River Of Life: How To Release God’s Abundant Power

Recently a phrase came to mind: “The river of God is full of water” (Psalm 65:9). And I knew it was the Holy Spirit speaking.
It’s the answer to many questions—and an unwavering truth:

  • Our God never fails, He never runs dry!

In that moment, it proved to be a turning point I needed.
Perhaps, you also need to hear today, “The river of God is full of water.”

When the Brook Runs Dry

In 1 Kings chapter 17, God hides the prophet Elijah from King Ahab. The Lord gives him the command, “You shall drink from the brook Cherith.”
It is a miraculous provision but Elijah’s ongoing water supply is uncertain.

“But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.” (1 Kings 17:7 NLT)

Sometimes we also obey God, but the conditions seem to change.

We may ask, “But Lord, you said…What about your promise?”
The brook you are looking at may be running dry, but “the river of God is full of water.”

The Supply of God’s Kingdom

"the river of God is full of water" on a green backgroundThe Holy Spirit wants to open our eyes to see the supply of the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the enemy wants us to believe the tide is out, we are lacking, and in short supply.
This is a scarcity mentality
It’s an orphan mindset trying to creep back into our thought life.

Elijah’s water supply running dry is good news in disguise!
It is a sign that God has lined up something new for him.

The Lord is about to visit him with new instructions.

The Ever-Present River

Let’s consider:
What if the answer to our need is in this statement of faith? “The river of God is full of water!”
In other words, “My God is present, available, and moving. And He is abundant”

The “River of God” speaks of an ever-present spiritual reality.
The Hebrew word for “full” means fullness and plenty. It speaks of abundance (Strong’s H4390).

River of Delights

The river symbolizes the flow of His Spirit, our life-giving salvation in Christ, provision, God’s presence, and the abundance of His miracle-working power.
Supply.

This River of Life flows from Genesis to Revelation.
And it’s personal for each one of us.

“You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.” (Psalm 36: 8, NLT)

The Abundance of God’s River

Many years ago, when our son was small, we visited Pukekura Park, in New Plymouth, New Zealand. “Look, Stephen! It’s a waterfall!” I exclaimed.
I stopped and positioned his stroller so he could see it. Water trickled down an artificial rock face, and we paused to admire it.

Then my husband Malcolm called out.
While we looked at the water, he read a sign on the wall behind us. It said, “Insert a coin to start the waterfall!”

I searched in my bag, retrieved a coin, and inserted it. Suddenly there was a mighty rush as a huge flow poured down the rock face!

And I walked away laughing.
What I thought was the waterfall was only a trickle.

River Of Life: How To Release God’s Abundant Power

We know God has an abundant supply, but how do we tap into it?

1. Recall God’s Willingness

“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32, NKJV)

Be reassured God is willing to move on your behalf.
As you walk in His plan, He has already established your supply.

Wherever God’s River flows, there is harvest and healing.

“The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.” (Psalm 65:9, NLT)

It speaks of the generosity of the Father.

2. Refocus on God’s Word

There is a kingdom reality. The river of God is full of water!
If we focus on the decline or threat, that is all we see. The tide is going out! It may feel like problems surround us, and fatigue clouds our perspective. Everywhere where we look, there seems to be a deficit or challenge.

But the supply of the kingdom is a spiritual reality, declared in God’s Word. We can perceive it and know that we are heirs in Christ. The fullness of the Kingdom is available to us!
“The river of God is full of water!”

And the truth of God’s Word changes our perspective.

3. Respond in Faith

Jesus said, “Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (John 7:38)

This is a time to spark our faith using the word of God!

What if we looked at the challenges around us and saw beyond them?

Whenever you face a need:

  • An impossibility with no earthly solution
  • Time and opportunity you cannot get back
  • Threats on every side

Declare, “The river of God is full of water!”

When we see it, we will naturally grasp it. We will proclaim it, pray, and act accordingly.
So, speak to the problem and declare God’s power.

And listen for His instruction.
Miracles are waiting to happen.

  1. This is a great word!
God is never dry or lacking – such a timely reminder of His continuous provision even when circumstances change. Love this word.

  2. I love to read these words of encouragement, and the comments of people around the world that are being touched!
“More than enough” is what I believe the Lord is showing me throught this blog. He is the Way Maker, and the Provider. He has and will prove Himself time and time again.
His grace truly is sufficient and may He get ALL the glory! Father, draw us closer to Your heart, and quickly!

  3. Dear Helen,
Its a pleasure to write you this message seeking clarity on a recent dream I had. I dreamt walking in a plotlike homestead where there were lots of chickens, ducks and geese nesting on the ground with so many eggs like I have never seen below. What would this dream mean? The environment where the chickens, ducks and geese were laying their eggs was like an open fowl run

    Kind regards,

    William Chauke

  4. Yes! I love this. I have been standing in faith about healing and singing the old song “There’s a river of life flowing out of me…” and the words of healing it brings. And it never runs dry!!

  5. Blessed above measure, is what you have received from Abba Father. The River is full, is a spiritual motivation for me, for the year 2026.
    Thank you, Helen, for sharing.
