Recently a phrase came to mind: “The river of God is full of water” (Psalm 65:9). And I knew it was the Holy Spirit speaking.
It’s the answer to many questions—and an unwavering truth:
- Our God never fails, He never runs dry!
In that moment, it proved to be a turning point I needed.
Perhaps, you also need to hear today, “The river of God is full of water.”
When the Brook Runs Dry
In 1 Kings chapter 17, God hides the prophet Elijah from King Ahab. The Lord gives him the command, “You shall drink from the brook Cherith.”
It is a miraculous provision but Elijah’s ongoing water supply is uncertain.
“But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land.” (1 Kings 17:7 NLT)
Sometimes we also obey God, but the conditions seem to change.
We may ask, “But Lord, you said…What about your promise?”
The brook you are looking at may be running dry, but “the river of God is full of water.”
The Supply of God’s Kingdom
The Holy Spirit wants to open our eyes to see the supply of the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the enemy wants us to believe the tide is out, we are lacking, and in short supply.
This is a scarcity mentality
It’s an orphan mindset trying to creep back into our thought life.
Elijah’s water supply running dry is good news in disguise!
It is a sign that God has lined up something new for him.
The Lord is about to visit him with new instructions.
The Ever-Present River
Let’s consider:
What if the answer to our need is in this statement of faith? “The river of God is full of water!”
In other words, “My God is present, available, and moving. And He is abundant”
The “River of God” speaks of an ever-present spiritual reality.
The Hebrew word for “full” means fullness and plenty. It speaks of abundance (Strong’s H4390).
River of Delights
The river symbolizes the flow of His Spirit, our life-giving salvation in Christ, provision, God’s presence, and the abundance of His miracle-working power.
Supply.
This River of Life flows from Genesis to Revelation.
And it’s personal for each one of us.
“You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.” (Psalm 36: 8, NLT)
The Abundance of God’s River
Many years ago, when our son was small, we visited Pukekura Park, in New Plymouth, New Zealand. “Look, Stephen! It’s a waterfall!” I exclaimed.
I stopped and positioned his stroller so he could see it. Water trickled down an artificial rock face, and we paused to admire it.
Then my husband Malcolm called out.
While we looked at the water, he read a sign on the wall behind us. It said, “Insert a coin to start the waterfall!”
I searched in my bag, retrieved a coin, and inserted it. Suddenly there was a mighty rush as a huge flow poured down the rock face!
And I walked away laughing.
What I thought was the waterfall was only a trickle.
River Of Life: How To Release God’s Abundant Power
We know God has an abundant supply, but how do we tap into it?
1. Recall God’s Willingness
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32, NKJV)
Be reassured God is willing to move on your behalf.
As you walk in His plan, He has already established your supply.
Wherever God’s River flows, there is harvest and healing.
“The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so.” (Psalm 65:9, NLT)
It speaks of the generosity of the Father.
2. Refocus on God’s Word
There is a kingdom reality. The river of God is full of water!
If we focus on the decline or threat, that is all we see. The tide is going out! It may feel like problems surround us, and fatigue clouds our perspective. Everywhere where we look, there seems to be a deficit or challenge.
But the supply of the kingdom is a spiritual reality, declared in God’s Word. We can perceive it and know that we are heirs in Christ. The fullness of the Kingdom is available to us!
“The river of God is full of water!”
And the truth of God’s Word changes our perspective.
3. Respond in Faith
Jesus said, “Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (John 7:38)
This is a time to spark our faith using the word of God!
What if we looked at the challenges around us and saw beyond them?
Whenever you face a need:
- An impossibility with no earthly solution
- Time and opportunity you cannot get back
- Threats on every side
Declare, “The river of God is full of water!”
When we see it, we will naturally grasp it. We will proclaim it, pray, and act accordingly.
So, speak to the problem and declare God’s power.
And listen for His instruction.
Miracles are waiting to happen.

Hi I had a dream with regards to water a while ago and have been wondering what it meant, I was walking along a path with a river either side of me as I was walking forward the rivers came over path and blocked my way so I turned around to walk back the way I came and the rivers crossed over the path again. I was on dry ground and felt safe but couldn’t go forwards or backwards and have been wondering what it meant?
The prayer instruction came perhaps two years ago. “Re-dig, repair the wells so that those returning have water in the dry lands.”
It is good to hear that He shall supply the water no matter what it looks like in the natural. The water shall be there for the weary traveler.
Oh, Helen! Once again Holy Spirit has flowed through you and provided the stream. Thank you. Continue tapping in and flowing
This is so good…literal life to my soul. My season has changed and it went from having a flowing stream to a dry stream bed. Talk about discouraging. I was thinking I did something wrong. I have been feeling like, “So this is life now.” Oh my goodness, this word is so encouraging, a burst of life. Thank you!!
Thank you Helen I love this message. The river of God IS full of water. Just recently the Lord showed me again that He always has a plan of abundance and to trust Him and look to Him instead of my plan!
Running short on finances and still over a week before I am paid again. I put some things up for sale on line. All went through except the one item worth one thousand dollars. The site kept removing it saying it didn’t meet their standards which was highly unusual because other items were on there the same as more. This happened twice! Then unexpectedly my Mother gave me some money, unasked for just gave it to me. Then I prayed Lord You are my provider, You bless me out of your abundance. After that I put the add back on the site and this time it stayed on! Hallelujah amen. Wendy
This other day I went for a walk and a thought of rain coming down was lodged in my mind. The spirit of God showed that was a blessing from God direct to my prayer partners at work. This is a wonderful confirmation of what I saw in that vision. Thanks very much for the article and God bless you and your family.
