How to Receive Strategies & Blueprints from the Holy Spirit

Is it possible to receive strategies and blueprints from the Holy Spirit? The example of Joseph and many others in the Bible shows that God wants to share this kind of instruction with us—Heavenly insights to help with earthly problems.

A Day I Received a Strategy from the Holy Spirit

Receive strategies and blueprints from the Holy SpiritIn 2001, my husband and I were involved with a mission agency, that was going through a season of transition.
The ministry was in a financial crisis. I wrote in my diary, “We’re in one of the most difficult seasons ever.”

One night when my husband was out at a meeting and my children were asleep in bed, I got down on my knees. I was crying out to God about what was happening in our missions ministry. Suddenly, while on my knees praying, I saw in my mind’s eye some diagrams. They clearly explained the changes affecting our organization.

I got up off my knees, found some paper, drew the pictures that I’d seen, and sat up late writing notes from them.

Spirit-Inspired Diagrams

Those diagrams described a paradigm shift taking place in the way local churches approached missions, and they helped turn our ministry around. Wherever my husband Malcolm and I went, and we showed the diagrams to pastors and leaders, they were electrified. “That’s it! That’s what’s on our hearts!”

That insight—described in pictures and given by the Holy Spirit—contributed to the turnaround of our New Zealand ministry, and was instrumental in moving us here to Australia—into God’s new season for our lives! [1]

Supernatural Strategies and Blueprints

We often pray and ask God for guidance; for direction. For where to go. But there are times when He wants to add to that. He has made available strategies and blueprints that describe our destination, as well as how to get where we’re going. We simply need to ask.

One definition of a blueprint is, “a guide for making something — a design or pattern that can be followed.” [2]

Our Father is saying, “Will you believe and ask Me to give you supernatural strategies, and blueprints—patterns and designs? Will you seek Me for wisdom? I long to give you so much more than you’ve received up until now.”

The Power of an Anointed Strategy

In Genesis 41, Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s prophetic dream—that seven years of plenty in the land are going to be followed by seven years of famine.

Joseph doesn’t stop with the interpretation—he boldly follows it with an anointed strategy for how Pharaoh can manage the situation and save the nation.

Pharaoh asks, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the Spirit of God?” (Gen 41:38). He then puts Joseph in charge of the project!

One anointed strategy from God is powerful; it can even save nations.

God’s Wisdom does not Always Make Earthly Sense

In 2 Kings 4, a widow cries out to the Prophet Elisha because she is in debt. He doesn’t give her money—he gives her an anointed strategy from the Holy Spirit that uses a resource she already has on hand. “Go get as many empty jars as you can, pour your oil, and keep on pouring—sell the oil.”

Here’s the thing about strategies from Heaven. Sometimes God’s wisdom may not make earthly sense. And maybe no one has articulated it this way before—but God is giving you a strategy that’s a ‘now’ blueprint for the new thing He’s doing.

  • It’s supernatural wisdom
  • It’s a Heavenly solution to your earthly problem

Now is the time for you to have faith in God, and be open to receive a Heavenly strategy! It will give Him glory because Jesus is the only explanation for what people see taking place.

How to Receive a Strategy from the Holy Spirit

How do you receive a strategy from God? Simply believe, ask, listen, and record.

The strategy may come in a dream, in a prophetic word, in a picture, or in a moment of practical but God-breathed wisdom insight. So, be open to the many ways God can speak to you.

Right now the Holy Spirit is stirring us, and He’s saying, “Will you believe and ask Me not only for direction but also the strategy, the “how” of getting there?”

Be encouraged by these words of James:

‘If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.'(James 1:5)

[1] My husband Malcolm was the National Director of a mission organization called Asian Outreach from 1995 – 2002 in New Zealand and 2002 – 2004 in Australia. We also served for seven years prior to that, in a voluntary capacity.

  1. We have been trying so much for God to guide us ,me and my wife.We have been going out preaching the gospel of the Lord until we came to a point of needing finances to go out, help is nowhere!!the Lord has been healing, giving out prophecies, delivering and helping his children but now the problem is within those who were taking out the gospel to towns!!??what is our problem?are we not listening enough to God”s voice?our heart is to help those who are in need, those who are poor, but along the way things changed,we cant help them materially but only spiritually, tell me is it enough to give someone in need only spiritual food??what about materially?they cant eat the Holy spirit?please advice or help

    1. Hello Sechaba, I am praying for you and your wife right now. I pray that you will experience God’s provision and also His wisdom. You are a blessing to many people as you share God’s Word.
My one thought is – do you have some local or ministry oversight there, that is looking out for you and able to give guidance on the best way to go about your ministry?

      1. not yet we just currently started joining another church, hopefully God will use this ministry to push forward this calling in us,i thank you so much for replying.because of financial support we have hit a rock!!!we are trying by all means to can start something to help us so that the gospel can continue being preached ,because evangelism is expensive!!!

        1. Hi Sechaba, yes, providing for own living in ministry (whether evangelism or another ministry) can be a challenge and it’s one I’m navigating myself right now. And also the particular costs too (yours may be travel). Praying with you for those strategies and Divine blueprints you need to open the doors in this season, Sechaba!

    Hi Helen, Libby’s cousin here.
For over 10 years I had been volunteering as a steward in our local cathedral. I dared to challenge changes to our duties of which many of us were unhappy with. Suffice to say the powers that be did not like questions being asked and a week before a scheduled meeting to discuss it I was sacked by email. I was upset and disappointed in the action. However, I sat that night randomly reading my bible and praying before going to bed ….where I slept like a log, waking refreshed and totally at peace. That morning I was driving to see my brother 120 miles away. During the journey I kept getting the picture of a bunch of flowers..few miles, flowers…few miles flowers! In the end I shouted out loud…Lord if that’s you telling me to take this woman a bunch of flowers then I need a bigger sign. I stopped at the services to get coffee and as I walked through the door there was a large display of flowers. Wow …OK Lord I get the message. That afternoon I got a call from a friend asking me if I would like to accompany her the next day to Caring For Life a charity for the homeless. I jumped at the chance as I now had a free day as a training I was due to attend had been cancelled by the cathedral lady. What a blessed day I had. What an amazing charity.
After church on the Sunday I sat and wrote a card to the lady in question telling her that I believed God closes a door before revealing to you another open one. (At Christmas I made door wreaths and sold them raising £250 for the cause and recently my husband and I visited to make donations of clothing for the men) So although this woman has never met me but decided that my services are no longer required it has opened up something much more deserving of my time. I have often wondered about hearing God speak but I truly believe that this was from Him. Taking flowers to someone who had done this to me is something I would never have thought of myself.

    1. Wow, Christine that story is so inspiring! Our God has such generosity of heart and it’s wonderful when He leads us in His ways too. Reminds me of that saying, ‘Life’s disappointments are Love’s great appointments!’

  3. Christine Cheek

My name is Christine a couple days a ago I did seen a blueprint of a home. And i am having a hard time trying to pray in spirt. I do speak in toughs. Thanks

  4. Hello, Hello Helen! It is supernaturally ridiculous how incredibly anointed your ministry IS!! I love your generosity of Spirit and I thank you once again from the bottom of my heart. The timing of your topics and the manner in which you articulate them spur me on like nothing else, except when God Himself speaks to me and my husband, personally! I may just have to make a T-shirt up that says, Stacie says Thank you Helen. . . again! BTW the job offer turned out to be a scam, one of which effected quite a few people and their testimonies are on YouTube! . Sad but the darkness always seeks to trip up the light! Thankfully I only lost time over it. Needless to say, God and His Holy Spirit, give back what darkness takes away! Much love to your family from mine! Stacie

    1. Hi Stacie, I’m sorry to hear about the job experience, praying that you receive back multiplied times what was lost in time and a much better job opportunity too!

  5. Hello Helen. it’s amazing the things you share, some time ago the Lord showed me a plain geographical blue print, so I guess I need to find out from him, what he is saying

    1. Yes, how interesting Monica! It’s always worth praying and meditating on even the small or unusual things He shows us 🙂
