In the book of Revelation, God opens a window for us into the throne room and we catch a glimpse of what is taking place there. There, we see two significant activities—praise and worship, and prayer—both of which we can be involved with right now. What a privilege!
The reality is, however, we can live our whole lives; we can pray, worship, go to church, do everything without ever being conscious of the throne room. But if we never turn our focus towards God’s throne, and towards Heaven—are we missing out on something?
3 Powerful Outcomes of Throne-Aware Prayer and Worship
‘Since, you’ve been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.’ (Col 3:1-3 )
God commands us in Scripture, to fix our attention on Heavenly things—and to live focused on Heaven’s priorities.
Here are just three of the benefits of being conscious of Heaven and the throne room in our worship and prayer:
1. You Encounter God in His Glory
‘I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.’ (Is 6:1)
When you are aware of God’s throne, you have the opportunity to perceive God as He really is. You encounter His glory.
Worship—as in flat on our face reverence and awe—can only be our natural response to this kind of encounter with God.
What is completely astounding is that we get to call this glorious, eternal, Sovereign, ruling God ‘Father’.
He’s the King of the universe and He is also our Abba, our Daddy. What does that say about who we are?
2. You Gain a Full Appreciation of What Jesus has Done
‘He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor.’ (1 Sam 2:8)
Our presence in the throne room, where we get to call God Father, tells us more than anything else, the power of the salvation we have in Jesus Christ.
Right here is the key to freedom from shame.
‘Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.’ (Rom 6:11)
The Bible tells us Jesus has taken away our shame and seated us with Him, upon His throne of honour. What good news! You don’t have to keep on dying over and over to sin. You are already crucified, buried, raised and ascended with Christ.
It’s time to honour and place the highest value on what Jesus has done—He paid the price of His life, and you honour Him by simply believing.
The cycle of shame has been broken.
The Bible doesn’t say your position is one of grovelling or begging before God’s throne, but of striding in boldly as a son or daughter.
Hebrews 4:16 says, ‘Let us approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.’ Because of what Jesus’ shed blood on the cross, there is nothing that can hold you back.
3. An Increased Awareness of Your Spiritual Authority
You have freedom of access to the throne room. But there is more! According to Scripture, you are seated with Jesus on His throne, upon His seat of authority. There, you can hear the whispers of what is on His heart, and pray in His Name.
Jesus taught us to pray ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven’. (Matt 6: 9-10)
Jesus is saying, ‘Always begin your prayer with an awareness of your Father’s location. And with your Father’s Kingship in view, you can pray for the outcome He has already initiated.’
The throne room is the position from which you access Heaven’s resources.
Psalm 103 says, ‘The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word’ (Ps 103:19-20)
All of Heaven’s resources are released by God’s decree, from His throne. And by praying in awareness of that, you can discern your Father’s will, partner in intimacy with God, and access the resources of Heaven!
Today I pray that as you turn your attention towards the throne of God, you’ll encounter Him like you never have before, live free from shame, and step into the fullness of the authority that is yours in Christ.

Hello Arrius, yes amen!
Good Morning Helen! What a lovely sermon and so empowering! As always, your words coincide with the rest of my life and it appears, each time your post comes in, your message supports and uplifts me specifically due to its echoing of the prayers/work/worship I am involved in! You are remarkable and I KNOW GOD works through you to touch and enliven many! Have a great day and thank you again from the bottom of my heart! Stacie
Thank you Stacie, you bring me a smile, and your encouragement means a lot to me! <3
Hello Sister in Christ,
It is indeed a different experience when our focus is on the throne room as we enter into the presence of God. I can see revelation 4 & 5 come alive; tens of thousands of angels, the four creatures with six wings, and twenty four elders echoing the praises, and as I join with the heavenly throng singing thou who was, is and art to come, no evil can stand, any discomfort associated with my lupus diagnosis immediately dissipates. Glory to God in the highest.
Thank you for this forum to gloat about God.
God bless
Hello Jean, praying in agreement with you for complete freedom from that condition and all discomfort, in Jesus’ Name!
I love those chapters in Revelation have been listening to chapters 4 and 5 on ‘repeat’ on my audio Bible 🙂
Hello Helen, thank you for all the teaching. I’ve got a few things going on in my life and at this moment im feeling so confused. I don’t know what’s real or just something i thinked out. If this is real what i am going to say now then i really don’t want to loose this and i want to do what i can so that i can start to understand these things. A few weeks ago while i was praying i saw in a vission me walking with Jesus. I did not see Him but i was aware of His presence next to me. He was walking on my right side. He said i must walk with Him beacause He wants to show me something. We got to this place. Not sure where it was but i know it was a open space like in heaven. At first i saw a few (people) maybe it was angels i don’t know. They all sat ons their knees (flat) faces down. So i did not see any faces and all of them had white clothes on. I just stood there and was trying to figure out what is it that the Lord wants to show me. ( this i thought as i saw the vission) And i can’t remeber the words Jesus said to me but it was something about that i must look. The more i consentrated to see the more of these people i saw. It went on for as far as i could see and then i saw they had on thin golden belts around there waist. Still in that face down kneeling possition. I sensed so much peace. I don’t wright down these things because im not sure what is happening. Is this really the Lord who is revealing Himself to me or is it just my own thinking. I really don’t want to loose this if this is true vissions from the Lord. And is it normal to feel so confuced and stressed out about all these things? And then I’ve got one major problem that started a few weeks ago. Like last night was the 3rd time that i would get nightmares. In my dreams I want to rebuke the enemy but i can’t get the words out of my mouth. It’s like im gagged. Do i maybe have an open door that i don’t know of or what is happening? Please i do need your help and prayers please.
Take care and God bless
Hi Renette, Luke 11:11-13 comes to mind,
‘You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? 12 Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! 13 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
You don’t need to feel confused or stressed out, peace is a fruit of the Spirit, so trust His Presence in the vision.

Your post about the throne room reminds me of a waking vision I once received, Isaiah 6:1 describes what I saw, so everytime I begin prayer I recall the vision and remember that we have unlimited access to His Throne Room because of Jesus’ Blood. Recently, I received very similar dreams, in one I heard the loud and distinct sound of a rams horn (shofar) and in a more recent one, I saw and heard a loud sound of roaring thunder (2 Samuel 22: 14/ Psalm 18: 3) from a cloud right above me. As I pray for wisdom and revelation, I would appreciate any constructive input from you about what these specific sounds mean and resemble.
Hello Moses, what powerful dreams! If I had those dreams, I would go to the Bible to see where the sounds occur and pray and meditate over which ones the Holy Spirit is particularly highlighting to me, and what He is saying. For example, the sound of the shofar would take me to the Scriptures about the Year of Jubilee. What a blessing God’s Spirit and God’s Word is!
