Prophetic Word: Receive That Gift and Take It Into Your Next Season

Gifts_from_GodI had a picture of Christmas gifts, left on the floor. Some were unopened—others partially opened and cast aside. But it was clear that Christmas had come and gone, for there was an empty space where a decorative tree had been.

While I was praying about this, I felt the Holy Spirit say,

‘My people have yet to fully receive everything that I have given them this year.’

Personal Gifts from your Heavenly Father

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)

Last week, I spoke about God being a generous Father. As you look back on this past year, can you identify the gifts that He has given to you?

Gifts of Revelation

Maybe God’s gift to you this year has been fresh revelation. In a moment of enlightenment from Scripture, an ‘aha’ moment, a dream, or a word spoken by someone into your life, the Holy Spirit gave you fresh insight.

And when that revelation came, you saw something clearly that was obscure before. Perhaps you realised that you had a misunderstanding in some area and God has cleared it up. Faith was awakened.

Perhaps it was an insight from His Word, designed to break open more of the inheritance God has for you personally, or for your family or ministry.

But a then a trial occurred, or a time of busyness and weariness followed. Now the glory of that revelation seems to have faded.

Gifts of People

Perhaps God brought a person into your life or ministry, and you recognised when that person came on the scene that Father had ordained your meeting or connection.

Maybe it was someone who needed what you carry—your encouragement, witness, friendship or ministry.

Or perhaps God brought them to you to contribute or provide benefit to your life or ministry in some way.

But life became busy and you neglected to invest into that relationship. Now you wonder if it is too late, and whether the purpose God brought that person into your world may not be fully realised.

Gifts of Answered Prayer

God may have dropped faith into your spirit for a healing, or gave you a specific word concerning breakthrough.

  • A word for a wayward loved one
  • A moment of invitation to receive healing of body or soul
  • A realisation that He was in charge of your circumstances
  • An invitation to participate with Him in an act of giving

There was a time of expectation and rising of faith. But maybe God’s word came to you in a whisper and you did not pursue it. Or problems crowded in, life became busy and you neglected to follow through.

Gifts of His Presence

There may have been moments or seasons where you have felt the Holy Spirit invite you to walk more closely with Him. A doorway seemed to open into the realm of greater glory, being with Him, enjoying His Presence. And for a while, you did.

Receive that Gift and Take it Into Your Next Season

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matt 7:11)

Today, God is speaking to you, saying,

‘That gift was from Me—a personal gift to you from My heart, My throne. It has not been cancelled. Where the enemy has sought to rob or steal that gift from you, you can receive back more, for I am a God of restoration and you have authority in My Name.’

That revelation—pick it up again.

That person—invest again in that relationship.

That healing or answer to prayer—press in, God is coming through for you.

Today, you can respond to His invitation to walk in intimacy with Him, to experience His Presence in a greater way.

It is not too late to fully receive all that God has ordained for you this year and beyond.

And take it with you into the coming year.

    Hi Helen,

From a young born again Christian God speak to me through dreams, but this year I experienced God gave me more visions then dreams. I can really say that I received a new gift from Abba Father and that of visions. I love it!

I love the prophetic, but don’t always have the courage to share what God is showing me. This is a very big problem for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to share with you. I am new to your page and really love your blog and thank you for the emails they are very encouraging.

    God bless you!

Hi Ria, it’s great to hear from you!
Yes it can be difficult to step out and share, especially when starting out, but may I encourage you, that if Father has given you a gift, it is one that He will use to bless others.
On one hand, don’t feel pressure to step out, and don’t let the enemy bring condemnation. There is lots of grace and Father knows all the time you need to grow beyond your hesitancies and you can rest assured He has factored that in. 🙂 On the other hand, I do believe you can find small, safe ways to begin to step out. Helen,

Thank you so much for this article! The Lord has showered all of the gifts you mentioned upon me this year in such abundance (generosity). The Holy Spirit has taught me so much about the prophetic gift and dreams/interpretation of dreams. He has reconnected me with an anointed person to help me understand more about the prophetic and prayer and deepened a relationship with another prophetic mentor. I am so thankful! But at the same time, it has been one of the most challenging years financially for my husband and I. And though I have not given up faith, the current challenge I face is trying to draw my thoughts into worry/fear and away from the joy and peace I experience in the precious time spent with the Lord. I ask for your prayers as I have to make a major decision before the end of this month concerning my home. I have 4 sons and in need of a breakthrough!

Hi Lynn, thank you for sharing, it is great to hear from you. I pray that you receive anointed wisdom concerning the decisions that you have to make, that our Heavenly Father will show you His pathway and His provision and that your family will be drawn to faith and intimacy with God in a greater way than ever before. And may you experience His supernatural peace and the freedom to continue to rejoice in God’s Presence in and around your life.
Have a blessed Christmas season, knowing you and your family are safe in His hands.

Ovie, thank you for leaving a note here. I pray that you will receive God’s strategy and anointed wisdom for your church situation. He promises the wisdom when we ask (James 1:5) and He is faithful. May the coming year be one of grace and enlargement for you.

I am an intetcessor who facilitates corporate prayer at my church. One Sunday I begin praying and I used Psalm 34: 1 &2. Our pastor was not present during corporate prayer. Later on in the service, Pastor repeated the same scripture as key scripture in his sermon and preached about it. I felt joy in my belly as if I had a part of something great. I am honored that God used me.

Hi Maxine, what a wonderful testimony, love it! God’s gift to you is also the awakening and realisation that He has given YOU as a gift to your pastor and church.
When these things happen it is a great encouragement and sign that we are in the right place at the right time to serve Jesus.

    Hi Helen
Some feedback on the effect your ministry has resulted in a picking up and running with the gift which the Lord has given to me.I was at Strathalbyn in Lew and Heathers Church you called me up and spoke about a ‘Stuck Screw and asked if this was relevant and did I understand what this meant( me being a carpenter for 40 yrs) I attended a Sunday night session in Murrylands school
You professed further to me and declared that I had a natural gift of answering tricky problems and I was to pick up the gifts I had laid down.
The result of this as I waited upon the lord was 3 distance faith steps the first was to be more open in what I shared about the Lord, as I am a lecturer in TAfeSA I was a partisipant in a Leadership group I shared about the need of Servant leadership ,Christlike leadership in our leadership as a workforce. The 2nd outcome of this was that I was asked to address the entire executive , two leadership groups and many leaders and managers for 7 minutes, well It just impacted the entire leadership group the anointing fell upon the leaders as I wove the word the Lord had given me, part of the address was a change to the name of our group from Aspiring to Intentual Leaders which was adopted immediately. The 3rd outcome was that I have had a meeting with the CEO as in his words he wanted to get into my head, he has had one meeting and wants to meet again next year,I quoted the Leaders Led and the people followed which resonated in the room. So thank you for you boldness and Godly insight back in a little place called Strathalbyn. What for 2016 I have no idea but if the a Lord is in it ‘ it must be Good’ So 2016 will have open doors even further and the Prophetic gifting will flourish to all you meet Helen
    Have a wonderfull Christmas
