I had a picture of Christmas gifts, left on the floor. Some were unopened—others partially opened and cast aside. But it was clear that Christmas had come and gone, for there was an empty space where a decorative tree had been.
While I was praying about this, I felt the Holy Spirit say,
‘My people have yet to fully receive everything that I have given them this year.’
Personal Gifts from your Heavenly Father
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
Last week, I spoke about God being a generous Father. As you look back on this past year, can you identify the gifts that He has given to you?
Gifts of Revelation
Maybe God’s gift to you this year has been a fresh revelation. In a moment of enlightenment from Scripture, an ‘aha’ moment, a dream, or a word spoken by someone into your life, the Holy Spirit gave you fresh insight.
And when that revelation came, you saw something clearly that was obscure before. Perhaps you realized that you had a misunderstanding in some area and God has cleared it up. Faith was awakened.
Perhaps it was an insight from His Word, designed to break open more of the inheritance God has for you personally, or for your family or ministry.
But then a trial occurred, or a time of busyness and weariness followed. Now the glory of that revelation seems to have faded.
Gifts of People
Perhaps God brought a person into your life or ministry, and you recognized when that person came on the scene that Father had ordained your meeting or connection.
Maybe it was someone who needed what you carry—your encouragement, witness, friendship, or ministry.
Or perhaps God brought them to you to contribute or provide benefit to your life or ministry in some way.
But life became busy and you neglected to invest in that relationship. Now you wonder if it is too late, and whether the purpose God brought that person into your world may not be fully realized.
Gifts of Answered Prayer
God may have dropped faith into your spirit for healing, or gave you a specific word concerning breakthrough.
- A word for a wayward loved one
- A moment of invitation to receive healing of body or soul
- A realization that He was in charge of your circumstances
- An invitation to participate with Him in an act of giving
There was a time of expectation and the rising of faith. But maybe God’s word came to you in a whisper and you did not pursue it. Or problems crowded in, life became busy and you neglected to follow through.
Gifts of His Presence
There may have been moments or seasons where you have felt the Holy Spirit invite you to walk more closely with Him. A doorway seemed to open into the realm of greater glory, being with Him, enjoying His Presence. And for a while, you did.
Receive that Gift and Take it Into Your Next Season
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matt 7:11)
Today, God is speaking to you, saying,
‘That gift was from Me—a personal gift to you from My heart, My throne. It has not been cancelled. Where the enemy has sought to rob or steal that gift from you, you can receive back more, for I am a God of restoration and you have authority in My Name.’
That revelation—pick it up again.
That person—invest again in that relationship.
That healing or answer to prayer—press in, God is coming through for you.
Today, you can respond to His invitation to walk in intimacy with Him, to experience His Presence in a greater way.
It is not too late to fully receive all that God has ordained for you this year and beyond.
And take it with you into the coming year.
