Transition is the process of changing from one stage, place, or condition to another.
And many of us are faced with it right now.
Transition may be joyful.
It may feel full of promise.
But sometimes, change comes that we haven’t chosen.
And we are swept into it.
A Powerful Promise
If you are in a place of uncertainty, here is a powerful promise:
“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you;
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)
I pray this word brings both comfort and anticipation for what God is preparing for you.
The Interruption
Eighteen months ago, during a time of loss, I was waiting at an airport gate.
And God showed me something I will never forget.
I believe this message is relevant for many of us right now.
Restlessly, I wandered to the window.
In the distance was the harbour and beyond that, the misty hills of Auckland, New Zealand.
Our plane sat on the tarmac, and I watched the activity around it curiously.
“Pay attention!” I heard.
Into my vacant musings came the sudden, clarion call of the Holy Spirit.
To be honest, I wasn’t in a place to hear from God.
I had tamped down my emotions and halted any deep and meaningful internal conversation.
Or conscious prayer.
It was easiest that way. After I returned home, I would have plenty of time to reflect.
Dad was gone.
We were returning home from a memorial service.
Work pressed at the edges of my consciousness.
But I couldn’t ignore Him.
“Pay attention!”
Just then, there was an announcement.
A flight attendant came over the speaker to apologize for a short delay.
She explained that they needed to adjust the air bridge’s position before the passengers could board.
Then I heard the Lord say clearly:
- “You will wonder why there is a delay. I am working in the background, I am adjusting the bridge.”
3 Ways God is at Work in Your Transition
Since that day, I have often reflected on these words the Holy Spirit spoke to me.
I believe these words are for many who are in change or turmoil.
1. God Is Adjusting the Transition
“The Lord directs the steps of the godly.
He delights in every detail of their lives.”
(Psalm 37:23, NLT)
I stayed at the window and watched as an operator stepped onto the air bridge. I saw it move this way and that.
Not in one fluid motion, but in a series of adjustments.
That day, I learned something about air bridges!
Previously, I thought they were fixed, rather like a wharf. The boat comes in, and it has to get into the right position.
The plane was not in the correct alignment—but rather than shift the plane, in this case, they adjusted the air bridge!
Often in our lives, there is fine-tuning before release.
Delay is not failure.
What looks like a delay may be God at work.
And sometimes, we assume we must adjust ourselves.
But God may be repositioning what connects us to the future.
At other times, it may be an internal adjustment.
Our Father lovingly reveals where we have drifted into effort, anxiety, or self-reliance.
He is aligning us with Him. (John 15:5)
2. God Is Working While You Wait
“My future is in your hands…” (Psalms 31:15a, NLT)
Here’s the thing:
The destination was fixed.
• The runway was ready
• The plane was prepared
Yet adjustments were needed before we could board the plane!
And it’s a reminder:
God prepares the way before He releases us.
He lines up people, provisions, and timing in the background.
Think of David in the wilderness.
There were many twists and turns in his story before he became king.
Or Ruth and Naomi, on the road to Bethlehem—unaware of the provision God had already set up for them.
Today, be reassured:
While you are wondering, God is working.
There is Divine orchestration.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to have peace.
Jesus is your Captain, and He’s working in the transition.
You can trust Him to lead the way forward.
Even when there’s chaos in an area!
But God wants you to know,
He is present in the middle of the mayhem.
And He’s going before you!
Psalm 68:7–8 says,
“O God, when You went out before Your people,
When You marched through the wilderness…”
Wisdom is a Person!
You are not navigating this alone! God is with you, and He is for you.
3. Transition Leads to Divine Acceleration
“The time will come,” says the Lord,
“When the grain and grapes will grow faster than they can be harvested.
Then the terraced vineyards on the hills of Israel
will drip with sweet wine!” (Amos 9:13, NKJV)
In a short time, the air bridge was properly aligned.
The operator stepped out, and soon, we were on our way.
Later, I reflected on this.
We often think of ourselves crossing a bridge in transition.
But that day I saw something different.
God was adjusting the bridge itself!
When God has everything in order, we are released.
Acceleration follows alignment.
It may happen suddenly, but we recognize God has prepared the way.
We may enter a period of Divine acceleration, where God makes up for lost time.
You Are Not Behind
Yet this is often the very moment the enemy whispers,
“You’re behind. You’ve missed God’s best.”
What feels like a delay is often Divine alignment.
A gate is a prophetic symbol of entry into a new season.
It also represents the decisions that lead us into it.
God is lining up your transition:
People, provision, timing.
Hidden work is taking place.
Even when we have made mistakes, our Father is a Redeemer.
Today, if this resonates with you, be encouraged.
There is power in your surrender.

Scripture also agrees with your perceptions, John 6:16-21.
This is where the disciples were struggling to get across the sea of Galilee. They had rowed several miles, about half way across, and had advanced only about half way when they saw Jesus walking on the waves, approaching them. They cried out in fear, thinking they were seeing a ghost (they had been rowing several hours before this). But Jesus calmed them, saying “Don’t be afraid. You know who I am.”
Then it says in the book of John that “They were relieved to take him in, and the moment Jesus stepped into the boat, they were instantly transported to the other side!”
It does not say anything about them rowing to get there. The action of transport surely increased their relief. Growth is often in the struggle, and usually at his request.
Blessing to you!!
Thank you for that, Sue. What an amazing thought! A Divine acceleration.
This stands out to me: “surely increased their relief”. Such a great reflection
Thank you, Helen. May you be blessed more and more.
I am always amazed at how your posts are so timely and accurately inline with what I am needing. Thank you Helen and praise to our Lord and Saviour Jesus for He is the Word.
This is definitely an apt word for me right now. A dear friend and I have been trying, and waiting, and testing, and adjusting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, learning to TRUST His timing and path for a ministry we feel He is building. So many times it has felt “stalled”, “delayed”, “on pause” and we’ve been wondering “Are we doing something wrong?” The Lord delighting in our steps and every detail was such an encouraging reminder! The fine-tuning, delays, while He aligns, working on our behalf on stuff we have NO idea about, preparing the way ahead of us…oh I needed to hear that! While we wonder, He is working. His adjusting is all to make things smoother, safe, better. THANK YOU for sharing this with us.
This entire piece was perfectly timed for me. Thank you so much, Helen. I don’t even remember how exactly I found you… I think was when, a few months ago, I had a dream about eagles and then googled “prophetic eagle meaning” and found you… Well, God brought me to you. Your ministry has been deeply encouraging to me – both your writings and videos. One day, I started a Bible plan by David McCracken and then a week or so later, one by Sally McCracken. Then come to find out through one of your recordings – y’all are on the same team!!! God is so good. I’m really excited to dive deeper into your book on Kindle so that this freshly awakening prophetic anointing can be refined. Thank you for being a light on this path. I don’t know what I would do without you. Love, a young woman named Abby over in east coast America
This is just confirmation of a prophetic word I received last weekend regarding Ruth and Naomi. I have been in a season of waiting and waiting on promises to be fulfilled and new assignments to come to fruition. Thank you for, once again, being a word in due season for me. The part about alignment coming before acceleration is powerful. I’m been in a place of in between of what is no longer and what has not yet come about. It’s been hard to stay in a posture of worship and expectation, but I know He is faithful and He will do it!
