Divine Positioning: How to See God In Uncertain Times

Divine positioning is something many of us long for,
especially when life feels uncertain.
We wonder if we’re “in the right place, at the right time”.

And I believe God is breathing fresh life into this desire.
Not as something afar off, but as a reality we can awaken to.

Wherever you are right now, this promise is for you:

“He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.” (Psalms 23:3, NLT)

Divine Positioning is a Journey

Divine Positioning, How to See God in Uncertain Times, quote on background image of dark sky and water with sun breaking throughWe often think of divine positioning as something fixed.
Such as a location, a season, a role, a team, or a ministry.

But being divinely positioned is also a journey.
And sometimes, it won’t make sense.

Yet this is the truth:

The Kingdom of God is present in your here and now.

He’s Here, Even Here

Last week, I found myself in a storm, with turmoil and family pressures [1].
Perhaps you’ve had moments like that recently, too.

In the middle of the night, I had an encounter with God.
Where He spoke to me from a past moment.
Suddenly, it was present now, a vivid message from Heaven!

As I remembered it the following day, the realization came:
He’s here, even here.

In that moment, anxiety turned into awe.
And awe into worship.

He promises:

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…” (Isaiah 43:2)

My confidence returned.
And it wasn’t because anything had changed around me.
Instead, my awareness changed within me.

And perhaps this is true for you right now:

“Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” (Genesis 28:16, NLT)

3 Keys to Divine Positioning When the Journey Feels Uncertain

1. Ask the Right Question

Jesus said to his disciples,

‘Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.’” (Mark 4:35)

The disciples were following Jesus’ instructions.
They were in the will of God.

But then, along the way, a violent, life-threatening storm arose.
Meanwhile, Jesus was at peace, asleep in the boat!

Sometimes, we find ourselves in a storm. The horizon is tilting.

And it’s tempting to ask, “Am I heading in the right direction?”
“Did God really direct me?”
Or even, “Am I in the right boat?”

“The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” (Mark 4:38)

In those moments, they felt abandoned.
And they questioned Jesus’ commitment to them!

But it was their own faith they had lost hold of. [2]

Instead of asking, “Am I in the right place?” when the journey gets rough:
What if the better question is, “Is Jesus with me in this place?”

Because “Divine Positioning” is more than being in the right place.[3]
It’s the positioning of God Himself.
Here, with us.

2. Recognize His Presence in this Place

Divine positioning is not about having clarity.
Sometimes, it is about opening our eyes and noticing Jesus is present with us.

  • While we’re in the commotion

I was reminded of a vision I had some time ago. [4]

I saw Jesus standing beside a map, spread out on a table.
It was like a dynamic, interactive navigation system.

In our earthly perspective, sudden turns of events take us on unexpected pathways.
Sometimes, we’ve been knocked off track!

But He knows the whole in advance, because He occupies eternity.

What impacted me most was the refreshment station I saw, down a winding track.
And I knew it was placed ahead of us in advance.

It touched me that even though we didn’t expect the path we were on, God had already made provision for this place.

He knew in advance that we would be here.

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.”

(Psalm 23:5, NKJV)

As I reflect on that now, considering this week, the storm, and the encounter, the realization is this:
He’s here, even here.

The Holy Spirit awakens our faith.
Jesus is Savior, Provider, and Redeemer.
He wastes nothing.
Even what feels like a wrong turn is not outside His ability to lead, restore, and provide.

3. Let Him Reorient You

Scripture reminds us that God transforms the Valley of Trouble into a Gateway of Hope (see Hosea 2:15).
What looks like trouble can become a doorway, a pivot point.

So, if you are in a place right now where things feel unclear, and you’re asking, “Did I miss it?” or “Am I in the wrong place?” be encouraged.

You are divinely positioned.
Not because everything feels clear, but because He is with you.

“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
(Exodus 33:14, NKJV)

Let the gift of faith within you rise.

When it is dark, and we are unsure of the way, we can look up.
I’m reminded of ancient mariners, who look to the stars to navigate.
God’s Word, God’s nature, His past faithfulness, His promises; these are our fixed points.
So, when life is unclear, lift your gaze and let Him reorient you.

Divine Positioning: You Haven’t Missed It

Divine positioning is more than being in the place you believe you should be.
It is recognizing that Jesus is with you, right here, on the journey.

And because He is with you, you are not lost.
You don’t need to fear being outside of His will.
Or running late.

You can turn to Him.
Because God is here with you.
Even here.

“You are stepping into a place He is already occupying.”

      Thank you Pastor Helen,
You always seem to be ahead of the curve in our lives.
Just like your word on bridges, the Holy Spirit is alerting you to alert us to stay on course. The most important thing is to recognize He is where we are.
However it looks in the natural, He is with us.
And goes on ahead of us!
We will cross over (the bridge He designs and positions) to the other side because His word says so, in to the purposes and the plans He had for us all along.
Thank you for your prayers on (my) our behalf!!!
Love, grace and mercy to you and your husband Malcolm.

      1. Praying for you both, Chris, and amen to that
May you be blessed with a visitation of power into your circumstances,
And a testimony of grace, Divine intervention and healing, in Jesus’ Name

    2. Yes Helen is good am on the journey and ineed prayers is hard to connected and divined but have hope will come

      1. Hi Wycliffe, praying for you now, for strength and clarity
May you see God’s hand working on your behalf and making the way forward
        In Jesus’ Name

    3. Dear Helen,
Praying for your family situation right now. May the Lord grant you wisdom, discernment, and give you divine connections. I see Him helping you to side-step any traps. We thank You Father, that she does not need to worry about finances, for You are more than enough and You give “more than enough” for these needs. In Jesus’ name, amen and amen! I bless your purse and your finances right now in Jesus’ name.

        1. “He’s here, even here”. Thank you for this reassurance. I have been feeling deserted, even by close friends and family. It’s now 3 years without financial security in terms of consistent income. I will look to God. I have no other plan.

          1. I’m praying that a clear way emerges for you, Bulelwa Payi
May His promises be a great assurance to you
Provision, grace, healing, in Jesus’ Name

    4. Martha Kiende Mwithiga

Thank you servant of God Hellen.you have opened my eyes to recognise that God is with me always, what caught my attention is , ” Though i position my self, I need to be in the right boat,”
Is the boat i am with jesus or judas?

      God bless you dearly.

      1. I’m going through a very difficult, sad, scary and uncertain time. Just recently God has been telling me that all the years I spent trying and loving were not for nothing. It wasn’t wasted. That message has come to me in different ways over the week. In quiet time with Him, songs I hear and now this email. Thank you for being a part of that and reinforcing this message to me right now.

        1. Amen, Rebekah,
God wants you to know you are highly valued and loved by Him, and He knows where you are.
This thought from an older post comes back to me:
“There is glory in your story, and the telling of it is not over.”

    5. Pastor Helen, thank you!
Just as I was reading the ‘violent, life-threatening storm’ passage, I was simultaneously listening to ‘Praise You in the Storm’ by Casting Crowns.
I’ve been questioning my season, my gift, my prayers, struggling to hear God’s voice, to discern, facing an unexpected delay. All I want & need is to lean into Jesus!!!
God be with you and your family

      1. Hi Abi, that’s awesome when that happens (I will look that song up myself, thank you for sharing).
I pray that you will have assurance and faith rise up, to know how to “speak to the storm” and move ahead with wisdom

    6. Right on Time!
Pastor Helen, to say that I’m going through a valley of trouble is an understatement. But.as you say, our God knew ahead of time that this season was going to happen. But God…The reassurance that He that He positioned himself to become immersed in it with me is more than enough to restore my faith and confidence in Him! Even so, yesterday was arguably one of my most difficult days, but our Lord knew it would be, and encamped his angels around me (sisters who reached out and spoke life into me through His Word). I need to fix my thoughts and eyes on those fixed points!!!

      1. How wonderful that He positions people around us to speak life.
I pray that you are strengthened and comforted, and rise up with grace and renewed assurance.
        Psalm 36:7-9, NKJV
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
8 They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
        9 For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
