Availability: 5 Ways Your “Yes” is Powerful to God

To be available is to be present and ready for use. And right now, God is inviting us into availability—without pressure.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’”— Isaiah 6:8 (NKJV)

Sometimes in life, our commitments stretch us to capacity, and we feel as though there’s no room left.
Availability begins to feel like a problem to solve.

But the Lord wants us to know that as we open our hearts to Him, He has new gifts for us!
He fills us with fresh peace, anointing, and authority.

God calls us to be available—not only for service, but also for worship.
To listen.
And to rest.
Your availability is precious to God.

God is Restoring the Power of Your Yes

Many of us have been available to others—people, ministry, and needs—and walked away feeling spent.

  • But availability is a sacred gift
  • One we can offer with wisdom and discernment

Not something to be demanded or drained.

The enemy hates our availability because he knows its power.
Today, God is restoring joy to your “yes.”
He is awakening us again to the wonder and strength of being available to Him.

“Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power” (Psalm 110:3a, NKJV)

Five insights from Silas to empower your availability

A few weeks ago, I was preparing for prophetic training and looked up a familiar Scripture:

“Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words.” (Acts 15:32 NKJV)

I used to forget which names were in that verse, and I can laugh about it now!
But it stirred me to take another look at Silas’ story.

And as I did, the Holy Spirit highlighted details I’d never seen before.
What I discovered absolutely blew me away.

We often overlook Silas, but he carries a powerful testimony.
Especially about the power of availability.
And there are prophetic insights for us today in his journey.

1. Faithfulness is a key that opens doors

The first time we meet Silas is in Acts 15, when the church in Jerusalem needs to send a message to Gentile believers in Antioch. They write a letter and send it by hand.

“Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men… namely, Judas and Silas, leading men among the brethren.” (Acts 15:22 NKJV)

Silas is described as:

  • A leader in the Jerusalem church
  • Trusted to speak on the church’s behalf
  • A prophet, an orator

It is largely an administrative task.
There’s no dramatic call, no signs and wonders.
Just willingness and a reputation for faithfulness.

Silas is ready to go, and his “yes” places him on a path of divine assignment.

2. Availability positions you for your destiny

After delivering the letter, the team prepares to return to Jerusalem—but it seems Silas stays on.

“It seemed good to Silas to remain there.” (Acts 15:34 NKJV)

That’s it! There is no dramatic reason.
And not every translation includes that verse. [1]
It may be a postscript.

Nevertheless, Silas’ ministry in Antioch positions him for what comes next.
When Paul needs a new partner, he chooses Silas.
One moment of availability opens the door to a whole new season.
And a new chapter in the history of the church.

3. God sets things in motion beforehand

Paul and Silas travel together, delivering the letter to other churches.

“As they went through the cities, they delivered to them the decrees… so the churches were strengthened in the faith and increased in number daily.” (Acts 16:4–5)

Not only does Silas help carry the message—he is the message.
He comes straight from Jerusalem, representing the very council that made the decree.

It seemed like a coincidence, but it was a divine strategy.
I realized that Silas wasn’t the second choice, after all!
He was already God’s choice.

Be assured of this: You are God’s choice.

4. Your availability contributes to legacy

Silas’s influence continues through the New Testament.

He is there in Philippi, with Paul in the dungeon, singing hymns of praise to God.
And with Paul in Thessalonica and Berea. (Acts 16)
In Acts 18, he and Timothy rejoin Paul in Athens.

We don’t know all of his movements, but we do learn of his significance as an apostolic leader.
And his faithfulness to God’s call.

Paul includes his name as a co-sender in letters:
“Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy…” (1 Thess 1:1 NKJV) “…preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy…” (2 Cor 1:19 NKJV)
Silvanus is the Latin version of his name. [1]
Even Peter writes:
“By Silvanus, our faithful brother… I have written to you…” (1 Pet 5:12 NKJV)

  • When we first meet Silas, the Jerusalem Council appoints him to carry a letter.
  • And the last we hear of him, he’s still communicating letters—this time for the apostle Peter!

Not a coincidence, but the sign of a powerful legacy.

What you say “yes” to today can leave a mark far beyond what you can see now.

5. God calls you faithful even if no one else sees

How would you describe Silas? I realized he was a:

  • Leader
  • Prophet
  • Missionary
  • Ambassador
  • A worshiper who praised in prison
  • Preacher and co-laborer with Paul

He was all these things, but Peter simply called him:

“Our faithful brother.” (1 Pet 5:12)

He’s not famous, but faithful.
Not the pinnacle—but a pillar.
This is what matters to God:
To be someone Heaven knows by your availability.
By your willingness and faithfulness.

Your availability matters to God

Maybe you’ve felt hidden.
And maybe your “yes” has gone unnoticed, but Heaven sees.
Today, received Jesus’ healing for your availability.
He is restoring your confidence and giving you strength for what’s ahead.

Your “yes” has power.
It may seem small, but it is shaping legacy.
And God is empowering it.

Your part is to be available, and God promises to enable.

  1. The entire message was power. I each revelation you gave on why your yes is so important. If nobody sees God see. My God. Your yes causes doors to open that you never thought possible. My God, your yes leads you straight into your destiny, your purpose. My God, not only that but into legacy Jesus. Thank you so more fire this word. That’s give me hope to keep saying yes Lord to your Will, to your Way, my soul saying “Yes”

  2. Hello Sister!

    Thank you Father!

What most impacted me is that we learn to expect everything related to God’s power as hard to reach. We seldom learn simplicity.

Being Faithfull is a key that opens doors – is special to me personally, because The Lord knows our hearts, He knows all, from inside out, and this brings peace and reassurance, because we all want to be big for Him and live the extraordinary and the expectations towards ourselves are strong.

Therefore, this sharing on an important yet simple testimony on Silas life and attitude is important today.

Besides this, without a doubt, the reassurance of our Father towards our inner ‘yes’ to Him being important is a true gift from heaven.

    With love to all,
    Your sister Cristina from Portugal.

    1. Hi Cristina
Beautifully put and amen to that.
May you discover the joy of simplicity and availability.
      Love from Australia

  3. I truly enjoyed your blog on Silas it reminded me that my name doesn’t have to be in the forefront for God to use you. When one says yes to God and is surrendered. God places us at the right place at the right time. Silas said yes and his name will forever be remembered as Gods choice.

  4. All Glory to Abba Father who is faithful to His servants. No 5 had me thinking God calls you faithful even if no one else sees.
You are blessed Helen. and a blessing to many

  5. Praise God for this Helen! Thank you so much, I needed these words specifically. The night before I received your e-mail with this post, I was crying to the Lord because I was mentally and physically exhausted from work and school ministry. I work full-time in a high school office and the Lord has called me this year to run a start-up Christian club. The demands of work (because we are understaffed) and running the club has left me exhausted and spent, as I also have to take care of my family and do my duties as a mom and wife. Last month, the Lord specifically spoke to me regarding the Christian club and He told me, that I am there (in my job) to be “available” for the students in the Christian club. It’s amazing that you also spoke a lot about being “available” in your blog..I receive the words that the Holy Spirit has spoken through you. Thank you for the encouragement, so timely.

    1. Oh! That sounds like a lot, and I’m glad the message was encouraging you,
      May the load be lightened
      May pressure be lifted
And may the touch of His joy be upon you
      In Jesus’ Name

  6. Thank you so much for the spirit-filled messages that encourage me always. I am grateful for this season of availability in my life. But hindered by mental patterns that keep me back. I would really appreciate prayers to be completely free, thank you.

    1. Yes, I’m praying now for your freedom Jill
May it be as Psalm 40 v 2 and 3 says,
“He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.”
