Have you ever had a prophetic dream you knew God wanted you to share—but it was for a later time?
This happened to me when I had a dream on Christmas Day last year, and now eight months later, I hear the Holy Spirit say, “This word is for right now!”
Water Hung from the Ceiling
In this dream, I was in a room, observing a ceiling that stretched above me.
And everywhere across that ceiling, hung water in great droplets, low and heavy. In the dream, I knew that there was a “water table” above that ceiling. A saturated place.
Then suddenly, I saw a hand in front of me, stretched out. The palm was open, and I saw that this hand bore a red nail scar.
It was the hand of Jesus!
As I woke, I realized that it was still 25th December 2020—Christmas night.
Ready to Fall
A ceiling can have a positive meaning:
- It can represent shelter, protection, or being undercover
- A ceiling can speak of your home
I believe that for many, a ceiling represents waiting or confinement. But a ceiling can also be symbolic of a barrier to progress. For example, we sometimes talk of “bumping our heads against a ceiling”.
You may relate to this, or to feeling there’s a hindrance between you and a new level.
By the grace of God, a ceiling can be the beginning of something new in your life!
They Touched Heaven
On the Day of Pentecost, God’s people were waiting in an upper room (Acts 2).
And that place of confinement became a birthplace of outpouring.
This was an event that touched nations and made history!
There was a time when Paul and Silas were imprisoned in a dungeon (Acts 16).
As they began to sing and praise God, Heaven visited that jail. Chains fell off and the doors opened!
They may have been in stocks on the ground, but the sound of their voices touched Heaven.
No ceiling can stand between you and God’s promise for your life.
Today, whatever your own “stuck place”, or waiting place is, hear your Father singing over you.
That place of confinement is going to become the birthplace for the next move of God in your life.
The Holy Spirit says, “Now!”
A prophetic dream has its own time frame.
And when you first receive it, you may not know what it pertains to.
So, you jot it down. But there comes a day when the Holy Spirit says, “now!”
Here in Melbourne, Australia, we live in one of the most locked-down cities in the world.
Now, we are in our 6th lockdown and have been confined for more than 200 days since the start of the pandemic.
A few days ago, it felt as though the ceiling was closing in on me. How I longed for wide-open spaces! But at that moment, it suddenly struck me.
I was in the place of the dream, and I was also in the SPACE of the dream!
The Promise is Within Reach
The water, hanging heavily from the ceiling.
It is for all of us right now.
Oh the glorious promises of God!
They are not out of our grasp—they are within reach.
The promises of God are accessible!
If you relate to feeling confined, be assured that God is turning your frustration into fruitfulness.
His favor is working on your behalf!
Hear Jesus say, “I am coming to your ceiling!”
“Pull Up a Chair”
Have you received a prophetic dream or vision, and it’s coming to mind right now?
I encourage you to revisit such dreams and visions. Meditate on them with the help of the Holy Spirit, for His gifts are not rigid but like a river!
And perhaps God has more to show you about that dream or vision, as you wait on Him.
Maybe, He has chapter two, or three!
As I prayed again about the dream, I heard Jesus say, “Pull up a chair!” (Rev 3:20)
That’s when I realized that if I pulled up a chair—even stood on a footstool—I could touch that ceiling. The water was hanging heavy ready to fall—and even though it seemed out of reach at first, I still could step into it!
And so, with the eye of faith, I became immersed in the water and it fell around me, reaching the floor below.
Destined to be a Vessel
Sometimes we are waiting for God to move. Yet He has taken the first step and is waiting for us to respond!
Today know that through you, the water of the Spirit will become a mighty river that touches the earth.
You are destined by God to be a vessel through whom that living water will flow.
“… He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Rom 8:32 NKJV)
Now, that ceiling that has frustrated you, represents a new beginning.
And you will discover His gifts in the very place you least expected.

Thank you for these post, Most of the times I dream of something and then I fail to know the meaning, then after some time when those things happen in the physical the same way I would have dreamed, I feel like something is being repeated. That will be the time I will realize that maybe God was trying to say something to me but then sometimes it would be too late. This really hurts me a lot especially when something negative happened in the physical after I had dreamt about it. I will blame myself and now am confused on what step to take.

There is a lot that the LORD has shown me and spoken to me about my destiny but from this year I’ve been feeling like I’ve reached a dead-end, that brought a lot of confusion in me. Yes I could sense a new chapter that is ready to unfold but because I’m confused I’ve been asking myself how, what’s next, what must I do now, because I’ve been waiting and waiting and my strength were starting to fade away. Thanks for such a hope reviving word, strength renewing word. I receive this Word of ceiling in CHRIST JESUS mighty name and I mix it with my faith now. This is right on for me and for a younger woman who got out of a halfway house about 10 days ago. (She served time in a women’s prison, rededicated her life to the Lord, and had women’s Bible studies while there!). She is just getting a rental home today and getting ready to start a new job!). I will share your dream with her because I know it’s relevant for her and me! My father-in-law died about 3 weeks ago of Covid Pneumonia ( from an outbreak off Delta variant). He had his vaccine. My husband has had both kidneys removed, while on a waiting list for a kidney. A 31 year old woman from our church said God spoke to her to give him a kidney! We will find out if she is well enough for donation. Vanderbilt in Nashville will be performing it. At this time we are being trained for home dialysis and I’m accessing his veins to hook him to the machine. My husband is a pastor for 50 years now, and by God’s help he’s still going strong! God has blessed him and he has blessed me with strength to do more of the workload of housework, yard work, as well as packing up the smaller things in my father-in-law’s house! I’ve never doubted that Covid is real, but I know it’s an attack of the enemy that’s causing fear and division even in a lot of Christians. Your dream only confirms to me that there are mighty things that are about to happen. The Spirit is going to rise up in all that are not fearful! My friend and I will experience a freedom far above our circumstances! Praise God!
Good morning. GOD gave me a prophetic dream several years ago. (2018) I know HE has been preparing me, teaching me to be the soldier ( warrior) I was in my dream. Sometimes I feel like I’m never going to become that soldier. I don’t know enough about HIS WORD to do what HE is calling me to do. I know I can do anything, but with HIM I can do all things. And the Holy Spirit with empower me to the quotes scriptures. So, I guess what I am trying to say is..yes, I can understand your dream. I pray that I can be the warrior HE is calling me to be. And when HE calls me home HE will say,” Welcome home, My good and faithful servant.”

Thank you for this word. I had a dream that my nephew was moving my things upstairs and his face was joyful and glowing. I recently had a dream my furniture was being moved by people unknown and family. I pray ? it’s what I told my son about two weeks ago, ” I think we are moving back upstairs”. I remember my dream and I saw my basement apartment empty with a bed very nice. We just got flooded thigh high we lost all furniture, clothing and my parents wedding picture who pass, my mom of covid and my dad of heart attack four months apart. I wasn’t sure what I understood what I was seeing in the dream. We are here and I was moved as always by your word, yes I cried, your word gave me hope. Thank you, I hope pendemic ceases to exist in Jesus name we are all tired. Blessings to you Helen you are one of God’s jewels.
Thank you for sharing this with me. I will be praying for you. Our area of the US was devastated by floods in mid August. We didn’t lose anything but my hometown was completely under water. I pray GOD will continue to use both of us to win souls for His kingdom. Be blessed.
