Prophetic Word Roll CallListen! There’s a sound from Heaven right now—it is a roll call. Hear God say, “Arise beloved!”

  • A “roll call” is an attendance call. It is when a list of names is called out, to establish who is present
  • It may be a group of people who have a specific purpose, at a certain time and place

At the moment your name is called during a roll call, you are the focus of attention.

God’s call is personal. His gaze is upon you. He calls you by name.

It is a pivotal moment.

Called in Your Humanity and Destiny

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name; you are Mine.” (Is 43:1, NKJV)

Beloved! I call you by name.
And I know you in your weakness and humanity—as I did the stumbling Jacob. I know you in your strength and destiny—as I did Israel. [1]

Yes, you are in the process of being formed. But do not be afraid. I have redeemed and restored you.

You are covered by my grace.

David’s Mighty Men: The Roll Call of the Least Likely

It was an unusual roll call. Those we know today as David’s “mighty men” started as a motley group of castaways.

They joined David’s band and became loyal to him, before he was king.
At that time, he was an outlaw on the run from King Saul.
But David was anointed by the Holy Spirit.

As the group gathered to David—as they aligned to him and served him—the kingly anointing upon David transformed them.

“David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.” (1 Sam 22:1-2 NIV)

These are the ones who became David’s army, his leaders, his mighty warriors; those who would go on to do great exploits.

  • It doesn’t say, “those who were successful, those who were perfect, who had it all together, who had everything lined up”
  • It doesn’t say, “those who were the most spiritual”

The beginnings of his army, were those who were “in distress, debt, or discontented.” (1 Sam 22:2) [2]
Their journey to greatness began in the wilderness.

So, if you have experienced pain, if you have felt ripped off, if you have been discouraged.
If you are tired of the status quo.
If you feel like a has-been.
Or never-been-seen.

If you are hungry for something you haven’t yet experienced, this roll call is for you.

Flawed Yet Chosen

As it has often been said, “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called”.

Paul writes,
“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”
(1 Cor 1:26-28 NIV)

You are chosen!
You are included. Invited personally by God to be a part of His plan.

This roll call is for the authentic.
Not a “photoshopped” version of you, but the genuine you.
As you are, flawed and weak, but amazing. You are handpicked!

Jesus spoke of Himself as the Good Shepherd, who calls His sheep out by name (John 10:3). He says, “Come! I have room for you. I have space for you to grow.
You are safe with Me!”

He is Your Sufficiency

The enemy will try to make you feel unqualified, disqualified, or left out. When in fact, Jesus has something for you to do, that nobody else can do.

Today, hear God say, “I choose you!’ ‘I’m calling you!”

So, don’t turn aside, as He calls your name. Instead:

Own up to your weakness, own up to your failure, own up to your hunger and that you can’t live without Him.

Stripped bare, with nothing to recommend you but the grace of God.
Trusting in the blood of Jesus.
Knowing He alone is your sufficiency.

Now, feel His strength and breath flow into you.

Called in Weakness, Gathered to Greatness

Those who gathered to David, went to him at the cave. It was the place they escaped to in the wilderness (1 Sam 22).

Here is the glory. The wilderness in Scripture is not only a place of testing, it is a place of birthing.

So, if you feel as though you have been in a wilderness in some way, you are in the right place at the right time for a miracle.

You matter—you count.
You are significant.
You are His beloved.
And God says, “This is your roll call.”

Whatever is impossible with man is possible with God. Salvation was and is impossible with men, but God made it possible through His Son. All He is looking for is a people who will go, a people who will say – here I am, send me, then those people will go and speak ‘rubbish’ in the eyes of men and the hearts of men will be touched and they will turn to God. The ones who will go, will miss the point here and there,if not far too often, but God will raise them again and again and they will go again and again – with just one gospel.

3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

The above is a caption from my journal. I made this entry today and felt Psalms 61 being impressedin my spirit. “…when I am faint, lead me to the rock that is higher than I…” I have been overwhelmed with my own shortfalls which have appeared far too often than I now care to count. I have been feeling inadequate to preach God’s good news, I have relied on my strength knowledge and understanding to try and win the world for my Father. I have been feeling defeated over and over and over againbut today – Grace is beginning to make sense once again and thanks for the confirmation. There is Grace to understand Grace and to respond to the call and say ‘Here I am, send me”

    1. Yes Ruth, His calling is filled with His joy and grace, and I pray you will know that like never before <3

      1. 1 Samuel 22:2 and everyone that was in distress, everyone that was in debt and everyone that was discontented gathered themselves unto him…

    1. Amen Martha!
I love this from Hosea chapter 2
“Therefore, behold, I will allure her,
Will bring her into the wilderness,
      And speak comfort to her.
15 I will give her her vineyards from there,
      And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope;
      She shall sing there,
As in the days of her youth,
As in the day when she came up from the land of Egypt.
16 “And it shall be, in that day,”
      Says the Lord,
“That you will call Me ‘My Husband’…

      1. These verses were what God told me several months ago. I even studied these verses and made notes on my Bible app. The valley of troubles He turns into the valley of hope..

It has been fulfilled in my life partially. is like God reminds me about these again and again.

        1. Hi Ranu, I love it how the Holy Spirit continues to minister God’s word to us, like a medicine to our hearts as we heal and circumstances change. God bless you.

  5. Wow ! Helen, I just checked my email, this word spoke to the depths in me. I was preparing a message to preach for a conference I was invited to speak at by someone who did not know I even preached. When I moved to Arizona I sat almost the whole 5 years I’ve lived year, in the wilderness battles. As one Apostle spoke over me, “you know what the stripping is, what loss is and you have had to pay a high price for the call, but said it is all for the greater glory of the Lord.” Many words by people who did not know me have keep me encouraged but then the last few months words have been given that it is time for ministry again, but I did not think it would be until I got ready, so I have been kinda nervous. Your words have hit me from heaven! Thank you for your faithfulness to our Lord and sharing! Many blessing upon you!

    1. Oh Lori! You are anointed and appointed! You are alight with the glory of God!
I love how we can step out in obedience (even when it’s scary) and know our Father is saying, “I’ve got this!”
      He’s got this one 🙂

      1. Yes, He has it. Thank you so much!
My confidence is in Him. Many years ago when He would show me visions of the future I would say no Lord not me. I cant get up in front of people to speak. I can do one on one… But over the years I stepped out in faith and I knew it was Him, and all for His glory…and this time will be for His greater glory!
