Spiritual Renewal: How to Find Strength When You’re Weary

God is bringing a fresh word of spiritual renewal, no matter what season or stage you relate to right now.
This promise is for you:

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, NKJV)

“It’s Time to Run”

The Holy Spirit has been reminding me lately of a vision I had some years ago.
I saw two seasons ahead, fall (autumn) and winter.
The fall season was a time to celebrate!
I was picking up piles of colorful leaves and throwing them into the air; having fun and rejoicing.

Then I saw the onset of winter.
In front of me, there was ice and snow, and I heard the Lord say, “It’s time to run!”

Then, I saw myself take off running.

As I was observing this, I knew that winter was not a space of time.
This was not about months on a calendar, but a length of distance.
And by running, I was going to pass through it quicker.

When We Doubt Our Season

Isaiah gives us four pictures which can also describe seasons in our lives.
These are waiting, rising, running, and walking.

And I believe God has fresh encouragement for us in each of these right now.

Wherever you find yourself in this passage, there is grace for your season.

Because many times, we feel we should be somewhere else.
For example, when we’re running, we think we should slow down or stop.

When we are waiting or need rest, we can feel ineffective, or even as though we have failed.
And it’s a constant battle—the enemy is always sending fiery darts of doubt our way!

If you can relate to this, be reassured.
God’s strength, protection, and spiritual renewal are available to you right here, in the season you’re in.

1. Spiritual Renewal in a Season of Running

Spiritual Renewal: How to Find Strength When You're Weary Text on overhead view image of eagle flying in gold tones“They shall run and not grow weary…”
There are times when God gives us strength to run because He has given us a vision.
And passion from the Spirit gives us fuel to move quickly.

At other times, we must run because we have no other option.
We may be carrying a heavy load through a demanding season, with others relying on us.
And if this is where you are right now, God’s strength is available for the running.

Divine Acceleration

Like Elijah, we find that seasons change suddenly and unexpectedly.

It’s like that time when Elijah announced to King Ahab that there was the sound of heavy rain approaching.
And then he ran ahead of the king’s chariot.
The hand of the Lord was upon Elijah to run! (1 Kings 18:41–46)

Through divine acceleration, God can move us through a season faster than our natural capacity.

Divine acceleration can be like a moving walkway at an airport.
You can be walking at your normal pace, but the walkway is carrying you forward more quickly.

2. Experiencing Spiritual Renewal in a Waiting Season

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength…”

In a waiting season, the enemy wants us to think that we are losing ground or wasting time.

But in Isaiah, waiting on the Lord is a posture of the heart.
It’s where we turn away from self-reliance and lean upon Him.

Waiting is not a sign of dormancy.
And if you’re waiting, God has not abandoned you.
It is the very place where God has replenishment and spiritual renewal for you.

In 1 Kings 19, we find Elijah utterly spent, running for his life.

But God does not rebuke Elijah for his limitations.
Instead, He feeds him through an angel and lets him sleep.

Elijah gains strength to travel to Mount Sinai to meet with God and receive a fresh commissioning.

“Waiting upon God” is not about hours of time, but about turning our hearts in any moment, even right now.
To worship, surrender and receive.

This is where our strength is exchanged for His.

3. When You Need Spiritual Renewal in a Season of Walking

“They shall walk and not faint.”
If it’s a season for walking, we can be tempted to feel we are not enough.
That we should be moving faster.
But God is present in the walking as He is in the running.

The Father wants you to know His delight is in you.

Someone else is not ahead of you just because they are moving faster.

Perhaps you have needed to slow your pace because God has called you to walk alongside another for a season.
Be assured of this: Your times are in His hands (Psalm 31:15).

And what matters most is that we continue to walk with Him.

“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justly, To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?”

(Micah 6:8, NKJV)

And perhaps no one is cheering you on.
No one is watching.

Sometimes, simply continuing to walk with God is an act of faith.

4. Rising on Eagle’s Wings

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”

“You know how I carried you on eagle’s wings and brought you to myself.” (Exodus 19:4b, NLT)

Rising up may speak of a fresh season after recovery.
But sometimes, what is ahead is beyond our natural capacity.

This happened to me recently. But in that moment I realized I wasn’t being carried along by circumstances.
I was being carried by God.
And His wings were underneath me.

If this speaks to where you are right now, know that God’s strength does not run out because yours has.

It may no longer be time to run, but to be carried.

Spiritual Renewal is Available

This is God’s promise: whatever the season requires of us, God Himself is the Source of the strength we need.

“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” (Isaiah 40:29, NLT)

And we can rest in this truth:

He is my Source.

Minister Calder this word in season has been a eye opener
And a blessing. The waiting season I been in has been challenging. I have a daughter who has been thru 10 surgeries with lupus and a knee replacement since
    April 2025 and now myself
    Just having surgery in
    July. After reading this blog
    On spiritual renewal I find
    That I have been reposition
    To rising season, God will
    Show up and share A
    Powerful Anointed Word
    In Season that resonate
    With your spirit .Thank
    You Minister Calder for
    Being a willing vessel
For the Lord. I pray that
    I will become also a

    1. Hi Linda,
I pray for healing and refreshment for you and your daughter, and for a divinely accelerated recovery. May his strength flow and hope abundantly, as you discover how you have been repositioned for God’s purpose, in Jesus’ Name

  2. This was such a relevant word for me. Thank you!!
Please pray for my two youngest children Claire and Jacob. I’ve been a mom for 30 years and the Lord gave us these two later in life and sometimes I feel exhausted and just want peace in our home.

    1. Hi Angie
What a precious gift you are to your family. May your children have increasing times of peace and bring great joy to you. May others rise up and help you and joy replenish you, just as God’s Word says, the joy of the Lord is your strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)

  3. Dear Sis Helen,
How desperately I needed this. Of late, I have been considering myself as a Lazarus in the tomb sleeping under a frozen layer of deep desperation of fruitlessness and stuck-like life areas – especially in the spiritual zone. That makes me a person who is anticipating spiritual renewal in a waiting season. After facing a silent heaven for so long, a profound grief grips my heart as I write these words, while I am uncertain about my rolle in the Kingdom of God in the coming years. Your words really kindle a ray of hope. Kindly pray for me.

  4. Thank you Helen for these words of encouragement and life.
I’m currently in a season of renewal whilst waiting , and just as you’ve described, it requires a complete leaning into God, and a ceasing from labour and striving.
He is truly, faithful and perfect, in all His ways.

  6. Awesome, blessed you are Helen, a spokesperson for the throne room of Abba Father. i am refreshed, spiritually by just reading the prophecy. ” Those who wait on the Lord’.
Blessings to you and your family Helen. Thank you for sharing.
