Surrender: 5 Powerful Ways You Can Access God’s Supply

God always has a new level of surrender for us to embrace, because He continually leads us onward.
As we release the past and move into an unfamiliar future, He calls for a renewed “yes” to Him.

If you feel that tug, be assured that you are not entering uncharted territory.
God, who loves you, already occupies your future and has mapped the way.

Receive the Gift of Surrender

"Surrender: 5 Powerful Ways You Can Access God's Supply" text on teal backgroundSurrendering to God is a mystery.
It’s not weak, as some might think, but powerful! Nor is this about giving in to an aggressor; it’s about yielding everything to the One who loves us (1 John 4:16).

Surrender is the humblest posture you can take before God and the highest position you can have on earth.

  • It is not about losing your rights or power but gaining true authority.

And it’s an act of pure worship.

If surrender seems beyond your ability to do, you are right! Because it is a gift of grace, empowered by the Holy Spirit:
A gift that is yours to receive right now.

Let Surrender Break Open Supply

Surrender is a step that leads to supply because it tips us into obedience and acts of faith.
Here are two biblical examples:

  1. In 1 Kings 17, a woman surrenders her last flour and oil to feed the prophet Elijah. Her sacrifice and the miraculous supply ensure her family has food during the famine.
  2. Jacob is managing a dwindling supply of grain (Gen 43:1). Meanwhile, his son Joseph is amassing a vast supply in Egypt. Jacob’s surrender—his obedience to God in relocating to Egypt—connects the two. And unlocks the supply for the rest of his life.

Prophetic Vision of a Storehouse Key

Recently, I had an encounter with the Lord about this. During our worship service, a Bible appeared in front of me in a glowing, luminous blue, in my mind’s eye.
I opened the Bible and noticed a cavity within it. Inside was a key,
I said, “Lord, what is this?”
He said, “This is the key to the granary”. (A granary is a storehouse for grain.)

The vision changed, and I saw Jesus with the key. It was threaded with a leather cord, which He placed around my neck like a lanyard.

I didn’t understand it until weeks later, at a moment of crisis when the Holy Spirit instantly dropped insights on me from the story of Ruth.
And I saw it:

The key to the granary is contained in Ruth’s story.
And it relates to each of our stories.

5 Powerful Ways You Can Access God’s Supply

1. Embrace Your Divine Appointment

As the book of Ruth opens, Naomi has heard some good news. The Lord has provided a harvest for His people in Judah!
Storehouses—granaries—are filling again, after a long period of famine.
So, she decides to make the journey home from Moab.

The two women, who are widows, arrive in Bethlehem at the time of the barley harvest. And Ruth gleans leftover stalks of grain in the fields to provide for them both.

This is a reminder that a Divine appointment often appears humble at first.
It may not seem like it, but now, you are positioned to encounter God. Here, you will hear a word of His goodness, and discover a newfound purpose.

2. Serve Faithfully in God’s Plan

When Ruth happens upon the fields of Boaz, a relative of Naomi’s late husband, her grain supply is secured.
For he is a wealthy and influential landowner.

Boaz ensures Ruth has nothing to fear and that her basic needs are met. He acts as a protector and makes sure that her gleanings are generous.

All this, Ruth gains in her service on behalf of Naomi!
She spends long days gathering and evenings threshing.

Similarly, many of us work hard in service.
If you can relate to this, be assured that God sees you and is your Protector and Provider.

“For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered towards the saints, and do minister”.
(Hebrews 6:10, NKJV)

3. Move From Service to Surrender

A need for supply can be a flag or signpost to lead us to greater surrender.

And this is the point the Holy Spirit highlighted to me:
While Ruth gleans in the fields, her supply is limited. She can only take home as much as she can collect, thresh, and carry!

Then one day, at the direction of Naomi, she petitions Boaz and surrenders her whole life to him.
Now, she never has to worry about supply again, for she marries the landowner!

Boaz, being a “Kinsman Redeemer” or “family redeemer,” symbolizes Christ.
Jesus is the landowner, Lord of all!

4. Step into God’s Greater Purpose

Ruth’s journey speaks of our own.
It is a progression: from seeking to serving to surrendering.
But surrender doesn’t do away with service—instead, it opens doors to serve with greater purpose.

We learn that Ruth became the mother of Obed (the grandfather of King David). She appears in Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus Christ.

Others knew Ruth as the Moabitess, the foreigner.
But God knew her as chosen, beloved, and grafted into His family.

5. Say “Yes” to Your Inheritance

Surrender is like a small door that we must bow to enter—yet it leads to a vast, unlimited storehouse.
And as we pass through it, we realize with wonder:
It’s not about effort or earnings, but recognizing our inheritance.

Hear the Lord say, “I am not through with this yet!”
He has more for you to discover and enter.
God never destined you for leftovers, for the land and the harvest are yours.
Own it—wear the lanyard, and receive the key.
And say “yes” to God.

Notes:

[1] When I describe a vision, it’s usually a vivid impression in my mind’s eye accompanied by a strong sense of God’s Presence. This is not an “open” (physical) vision. I believe all prophetic words, encounters, and visions should be compatible with Scripture and need to be weighed up—if you’d like to know more, see 8 Ways to Grow In Prophetic Visions and Pictures.

[2] Reflected on these symbols later, I realized they were rich with meaning.
The key signified access, the lanyard meant identity and security, and the leather represented His sacrifice (Jesus). The cavity in the Bible had to do with a truth contained in the Scriptures, while blue spoke to me of prophetic insight.

  1. Timely word.

No. 4 stands out because God does not look down on anyone. Despite Ruth being a Moabite, her destiny in God was already sealed….mother of Obed, grandmother (correct this on your notes) of David and finally in the genealogy of Christ Jesus.

    Surrender=Authority. Thank you.

    1. oh yes, thank you! I’ve added brackets to emphasize it’s Obed I’m talking about who was the grandfather of David

  2. There’s been some strife in a ministry that I’m involved with. I feel led to surrender, to yield. I believe God honours peaceful resolution and I’ve been encouraged by this blog to yield. As I do so, I feel the burden has lifted and a sense of peace fills my heart. Praying for clarity as I take next steps. Thank you Helen!

  6. Hey Helen!
This is a late response to this message, yet timely too.
I am currently in dialogue with Holy Spirit and was captured this morning by the phrase, He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. For the first time I understood the wider context of fire here in v12 and saw the necessity for Him to burn wildly through anything that is not for Him.
Then I returned to your blog not remembering the subject but noting that the Spirit is calling me here as an indicator of what He is doing.
    So good, and very encouraging!
Thank you again, thank you for sharing Heaven with the earth!
Have a lovely day, great love to the awesome Calder family!
    Sashi
