A ‘theme song’ is a signature song—one uniquely associated with a person, group or production. For example, the lyrics of a show or TV program’s theme song may tell the story of the main characters. A sports team may have its own theme song. Even nations have their own anthem.
Our lives, have a ‘theme song’. It is a metaphor for the unique blend of the message, atmosphere, and prevailing emotion that characterizes us.
Today I believe God is saying, “New theme songs are being released. And with this new sound, atmospheres are shifting. Destinies are being broken open!
A New Song is Piercing the Darkness
There was a moment when Miriam picked up a tambourine and led a song. It was a song never heard before in Israel—a new sound, a song of victory:
“Sing to the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!” (Exodus 15:21, NKJV)
As Moses and Miriam taught new songs of victory won to Israel, the old songs and melodies of sorrow from slavery, from generations past, became extinct.
Today, there is a prophetic sound being released. It is piercing the darkness. It is a new song; a song of victory.
Outdated Theme Songs are Being Replaced
Are there themes that have been carried forward from past seasons—even recent journeys of your life—that carry a sense of sadness or frustration?
God is releasing a new theme song over your life:
- It is the song of your identity intertwined with His
- It is the song of grace; of His salvation and redemption
- It is a song of victory; of new hope and anticipation of His goodness in your journey ahead
‘See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come’
(SOS 2:11-12a)
You are Singing from Higher Ground
Today, if you been waiting upon God in the midst of trial; if you have felt stuck and unsure of your standing, the song of Miriam and Israel can be your song.
The victory that is not possible to you in your own strength, has already been won by Christ.
‘He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.’
(Psalm 40:1-3, NIV)
Your Father is lifting you in His arms and bringing you to higher ground. That ground, that Rock, is Jesus. As you respond to Him, the Spirit of God is releasing a new sound from within you. God’s transforming power at work in your life will spill over and touch many others.
The Song of Deliverance is Your New Song
The walls of the Lord surround and protect you. They stand between you and circumstances that have threatened to overwhelm you. Listen—there is a sound; a song being sung over you by the Spirit of God and the angelic hosts. Hear a song of deliverance:
‘Your God has triumphed. That enemy is overcome. You are more than a conqueror in Christ.’
‘You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.‘
(Psalm 32:7, NIV).
He says, ‘My love surrounds you. I am giving you songs in the night.’ (Psalm 42:8)
Your God is singing over you. (Zeph 3:14-17)
It’s Time to Dance
‘Then Miriam the prophet, Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels and dancing.’(Exodus 15:20, NIV)
For Miriam and Israel, the threat of slavery was at an end. Their former slave driver, Pharaoh of Egypt, could no longer pursue them. With that realization, came a new theme song and a dance of celebration.
- When Miriam was freed from slavery, she entered her destiny as a prophet and leader of women. Along with her, a generation of women was released into a new realm of praise and worship.
That enemy that has been pursuing you was destroyed at the cross. (Col 2:15) As recognition dawns, a new song is rising within you.
It’s time to dance.

Thank you for this wonderful blog. A song that God is ministering to me through is
Mention of Your name – Jenn Johnson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBrv6hKhdzg
Thank you Jackie I will listen to that 🙂
I love that song too, Jackie! Also, on the same album, the one titled “Only Jesus” verses are a prayer to Him.
Thank You, Jesus! This resonates SO deeply within me and His purpose for me. Helen, the night before your post, Holy Spirit just reminded me of Miriam’s new song of victory after the powerful prophetic declaration of Moses in Exodus 14:13 “And Moses said unto the people, “Fear ye not. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will show to you today; for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more for ever.” Glory to God! And He has given me Ha Chadash Ha Shirah – even Tehillah to the Most High, The Holy One. In the meantime, singing “…the power of sin is broken, Jesus overcame it all! He has won our freedom, Jesus has won it all! Hallelujah! You have won the victory! Hallelujah, You have won it all for me. Death could not hold You down! You are the risen King; seated in majesty. You are the risen King!”
Abba, I will sing Your praise, dance with You and worship You FOREVER! You alone are worthy FOREVER! Amen!
Yes! That is soooo good Terri! 🙂
Thank you Prophetess. Was praying last week and heard a song in my spirit saying “it is over..it is over..the dominion of Satan it is over..ther dominion of Satan it is over” this confirms it as I have never had such experience before. May God uphold u and keep growing us all in the prophetic. I’m an emerging prophetic person.
Amen, Jules!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQztFd6W1fs
this would be my praise & worship to the Lord.
Thanks for this Helen, your post really spoke into my spirit!! For the last two weeks I’ve had the song How Great is our God (from Psalm 104)…. in my head, singing it on my way into work. Speaking to me of the importance of worshipping him, but the line, “He wraps himself in light and darkness tries to hide and trembles at his voice….” was the standout line for me… He is light and all that is dark is vanquished in that glorious light – I needed reminding of this truth!
The song is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NojwQKHuF54
PS: I starting following your blog after my husband and I met David and Margaret McCracken on a train travelling through Italy a few years ago 🙂
Hello Ann, that is wonderful! ‘How Great is Our God’ has been our theme worship song at David McCracken Ministries for years! 🙂
Thanks for letting me know this Helen – real encouragement!! He is our Great God and the Great God!
This article is just a testament to the fact that our God is an all-knowing God. Who can connect someone in Africa to another in Australia?; revealing message that clearly shows the Holy Spirit (God) rules in the affairs of Men.
I have been on a spiritual exercise for some weeks now :waiting on God for direction on how to go about Call to Ministry He revealed to me via words of prophecy about a month ago.
It was that word of prophecy that infact triggered my decision to join your mailing list. I was searching for signs and traits that relates to what (Call) God revealed to me through a prophet in my City; when I came accross website.
I have been receiving messages from you since, however the message of today : “A new song from heaven is being released over my life ” is too much of a coincidence to me.
God is truly working .
Since last Sunday I have been in singing mood and what sort of song have I been singing ? Victory songs!
Infact I led the congregation in my local Church to singing a victory song without knowing God was actually working out something.
I (as a Brother) was merely given the task of making general announcement, but in the process of announcing a forth coming event of our Church (the biggest Pentecostal church, in spread and branches in Africa and perhaps the world ) coming up in Lagos and the theme of the event is “Songs of Victory” , I found myself singing songs of vicory to
buttressed the event.
Through out yesterday 14/11/17 ,I was led by the spirit to just be singing and dancing.
Today again after leading my family in prayer and everyone gone , I started playing songs and dancing.
Subsequently, I checked my email and found your article sent to me.
Reading through is just like God ‘s confirmation of what the Holy Spirit has been taking me through in the last 4 days .
I am extremely joyful and it further affirms the omnipotence nature of God. He is not limited by the distance .
To share just a few of the songs I have been singing;
1. This one is in my local dialect and the English translation is :
“we are more than conquerors ×2
Because we put our trust in God”
2. “Your foes will one day bow before your throne and on that day , they will declare you as king,
It does not matter what they say or do now , as for me: I will praise the Lord.
May the name of God be magnified for ever in Jesus name. Amen
2.
