We were emerging from a shopping mall where we had spent hours sheltering from the extreme heat. It was then that my husband Malcolm (aka The Hunk) and I received an alarming phone call from our daughter.
A bush-fire was sweeping towards my Mum and Stepdad’s neighbourhood and all local residents were instructed to evacuate.
It was a great relief when my parents turned up at our home a short while later. Praying and watching the TV, we viewed the efforts of the CFA fire brigades. Finally our heroic Aussie firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, with the help of a timely wind change.
A Prophetic Perspective of God’s Kingdom
A prophetic perspective is the viewpoint of what the Father sees, and what His intention is, in any given situation. It is a Biblical frame of reference. (Matt 6:10, John 16:13)
Does your perspective and anticipation concerning what God will do in your life, your destiny and the lives of others line up with that which God sees? Or do you have a limiting mindset? Here are 3 Kingdom truths to help you check:
1. Life Overtaking Death
‘Jesus said…“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die”. (John 11:25)
A bush-fire can sweep through a district, destroying everything in its wake. And although in this instance homes were saved, 120 hectares of parklands and innumerable wildlife were lost.
This vivid picture of spreading destruction is echoed in our world today in war, terrorism and disease. The message is one of intimidation. Death overtaking life.
It’s a message the enemy wants us to believe.
However, you are not under threat. You ARE a threat. You carry a message and life that is unstoppable and contagious.
The truth is, God’s Kingdom is the invading, spreading Kingdom. It cannot be contained. It is contagious, it is expanding. Life is overtaking death. Captives are being set free.
The contrasting picture of God’s Kingdom is one of a vast River of Life that brings healing, fruitfulness and harvest wherever it goes. (Ezek 47) This is the prophetic perspective you can hold onto: The Holy Spirit’s life and power being released through you to others every day of your life. (John 7:37-39)
2. Light Overtaking Darkness
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matt 5:14)
The Bible tells us that God’s Kingdom is one of light, in contrast to the kingdom of darkness.
The nature of light is to invade the darkness, penetrating it and exposing what is within it. Turn on a light and darkness is instantly transformed by it. It doesn’t work the other way around!
Your prophetic perspective should be that you are a bearer and conveyer of light. And Father says, ‘I have made you a light… that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ (Acts 13:47b) By faith, see that light invading the darkness of countless lives around you and far beyond.
3. Holiness and Wholeness Overtaking Defilement and Disease
Jesus said, ‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ (John 10:10)
Under the Old Covenant law, certain types of food and diseases (along with other things such as bodily discharge and corpses) were considered unclean. Anyone touching these things would be defiled. The purpose of the law was to teach God’s people of His holiness and of their need for a Saviour. (Gal 3:19-29)
Then the Saviour came.
A woman suffering a condition of bleeding, considered unclean under the Law of Moses for 12 years, braved a crowd in her defilement to touch Jesus. And when she reached out and touched Him, wholeness was imparted into her body. (Mark 5:25-34)
Jesus touched a corpse—the lifeless body of a young girl—and she sprang to life. (Mark 5:41-42) He touched a leper and said, ‘Be clean!’ The leper was instantly healed. (Matt 8:2-4)
A new law was in operation. Upon the touch of the Christ, the anointed One, the unclean became clean and whole.
Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus freely touching those labelled ‘unclean’ under the Mosaic Law. His holiness could not be defiled. His life and healing was instantly transferred.
Are you filled and anointed with the Spirit of God? ‘…the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.’ (1 John 4:4b) Here is a powerful prophetic perspective that will result in many lives being touched and changed through you.
Who and what you carry is contagious—don’t fear defilement of sin and sickness and don’t judge those who are ensnared by it. Let the love of God lead you to touch the lives of others.
Rise up in your spirit and believe. You are a carrier of life, and Jesus—the source of light and life—lives within you and is being released through you.
‘…on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.’ (Matt 16:18b)
