God’s rest is a powerful key—one that is available to you right now! So if you are experiencing turmoil, be assured of this:
You may be short of solutions, but God is the master of your supply.

A Prophetic Dream About Shiloh

Image of grapes in vineyard with Bible quoteOn 2nd November, I had an unusual dream! In it, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about “Shiloh”.

He reminded me of a prophetic message I shared a few months earlier, from Joshua 18. And in those few minutes, He enlarged on it, taking me back and forth in the Scripture.
I woke up with more insight than before!

Little did I know that we were about to hit some unexpected turbulence in a situation—and in the shaking, the message of “Shiloh” would become a great strength.

Your Trust in God is Powerful

Perhaps today, you relate to having some “unfinished business”.

  • An outcome you expected has not taken place
  • You are seeking closure or a resolution
  • Something is incomplete

That unfinished business may have to do with a legacy, a dream, or a vision for your life. You may not be aware of it—but your trust in God is exerting a powerful pull in the spiritual realm.

That “Unfinished Business” is About to Change

“Shiloh” is the name of an Old Testament town in Ephraim which means, “Place of Rest” (Strong’s H7887).

And as Joshua chapter 18 opens, God’s people occupy the land of Canaan—but numerous families don’t know where they will settle.
In fact, seven of the twelve tribes have not received their land allotment; their inheritance assigned by God.

There is unfinished business, but this is about to change!

1. God’s Rest is Where We Receive His Promise

Joshua leads the whole community to gather at Shiloh, where they set up the Tabernacle. Then, the priests rest the Ark of the Covenant in its place.

Earlier, God promised Moses “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Ex 33:14b). But it is many years later, and the Israelites still haven’t entered the “rest” God spoke of.

  • Now, at Shiloh, God is about to fulfill this promise!
  • Because they are positioned at the right place, at the right time

Today, be reassured, for God is faithful and He will fulfill His promise to you.
And the safest place for you to be right now is in God’s rest. It’s that place where you awaken to His presence with you, and your reliance upon Him deepens.

2. God’s Rest is Where We Hear His Instructions

In the place of rest, God calls us to partner with Him in his promise.
And Joshua calls on the people to obey God—He sends them out to map the territory.
In response, a team of land surveyors goes out and brings that information back to Shiloh.
And there in God’s Presence, Joshua receives the tribal allotments.

Unfinished business can be frustrating because the closure we crave is out of our reach!
And in such times, it seems counter-intuitive to pause and listen.

But here in Shiloh is the listener’s reward. For here in God’s rest, you receive the instructions of the Holy Spirit—you hear from God about what He wants to do.

3. God’s Rest Becomes a Launching Pad

What an extraordinary picture: there are keys of access waiting for you in the place of God’s rest.
Here, God delivers His wisdom and strategies, to possess the promise.
And so “Shiloh” becomes a launching pad.

Hear the Lord say,
“Beloved, I have rest for you.
In your outer circumstances, it may seem that you are cast into turmoil.
But you will know My unshakeable rest, like never before.
And here you will discover your inheritance is secure in Me.”

We say in response,
“O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.” (Psalms 16:5-6 NKJV)

The Future of Shiloh

God later calls Shiloh, “My place…where I set My name at the first…” and yet the town is eventually destroyed as the people backslide from God (Jer 7:12). There’s a significant message in this story, which I’ll share in part 2 of the message of Shiloh soon.

Good morning Helen , here again am completely out of word to express how God works . Gos is awesome! This week I decided to stick to the book of Exodus 33 and emphasis verse 14 . Lo and behold God is using you to confirm what His word to me . Anytime you send an article it just fit to exactly what I needed .
May God richly bless your ministry.

    1. thank you Pastor Ibrahim, that’s a blessing to me too, as the link between Exodus 33:14 and the Shiloh reflections has impacted me, thanks for letting me know.

      1. Praise God I received this message. I live in the Shiloh Community in Quincy, Fla. Also I’m 65 years old and just learned about my my family background on my father’s side whom I haven’t met. I believe God is going to bring rest and closure to my life. God bless you for that confirmation. Please pray for me to get wisdom, understanding and closure as I learn of my inheritance.

      2. GOOD MORNING HELEN. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME AS I REST IN SHILOH FOR A JOB SPECIFICALLY THE JOB I APPLIED IN THE UK AS A CAREGIVER. I REST KNOWING THAT GOD IS ORCHESTRATING SOMETHING FOR MY GOOD.
        THANK YOU

  2. Ssewanonda Emmy Joshua

Greetings to you servant of God.
Thank you for the message about God’s rest.I have learned that it’s only God that can help us accomplish the unfinished business if we seek Him, listen to His instructions and we implement them accordingly.
May you pray with me to pass my forthcoming job interview on 29/11/22. I have been without a job for 3 years now.
    Thank you.
    Emmy

    1. yes I’m praying with you now, Emmy
Father thank You that you have gone ahead of Emmy and You are preparing the way. We agree for a job and ask for favor and grace to be manifest upon Emmy, in Jesus’ Name

  3. Dear Sister Helen,
As you have written down about the “unfinished business”, I would say that I do definitely fit in the whole picture because I have been carrying the heavy burden of the incomplete status of my calling in the Lord’s vineyard for the past many years. Although the Lord assured me that He would use me in spite of my lost years, grief and pain keep on coming back to bite my heart evoking disappointment. Thank you Sister for reminding me once again that He will go before me to pave the way to fulfill His business.

    1. I’m praying with you now, Benny
this is the power of His grace, He completes the “incomplete” and declares His favor, delight and satisfaction over you. He says, ‘You are enough!’ And out of that rest, new life flows.

    2. Agreed. I felt in the spirit to read my journal today As I was reading I found insight, mysteries and hidden treasures, but…found. My husband and I named our child that didn’t have a name and so we named her, Joy Alexandra. The name came so quickly. I immediately went into a vivid imagination of her in heaven. It was beautiful. I had alot writings about being still. I have four teenagers under this roof, quite is not in our home. Lately I’ve been woken up about five hours into my sleep. I felt in my spirit last night to be still and quite. When God wakes me up I’m going to get into waiting his presence and loving him. Amen and bless you all!

  4. Thank you Helen for this word that confirms what has been in my spirit. I thought Exodus 33:15 was for others that God was giving me under the theme,Refuse to go without His presence. This has been a message on my heart,as well also Judges 4:8 when Barak would not go to war without Deborah who as I reflected represented the presence of God as a prophetess.Surely the presence of God is the best to have and I refuse to do anything without Him. God bless you dear sister.

  5. The message was spot on .Iam in the heat of Life. Nothing is working except the ministry where God is doing wonders as i pray for the healing of his children with amazing testimonies. For last
4 years have been without work but only by the grace of God i live. The presence of God is the master key in all we do. Pray for me for more grace and new open doors for new jobs amen
