Divine Acceleration: When God Steps In
Divine acceleration is God’s ability to bring about His purposes at a much faster rate than is humanly possible.
When you are in a season of Divine acceleration, you experience a sudden, supernatural surge forward! God is fulfilling His promises in one or more areas of your life.
Divine acceleration is a principle seen throughout Scripture. And there is frequently a pattern to it:
- God gives a prophetic promise to His people, but then time passes by
- There is weakness, there is waiting, there are trials
- Perhaps, an injustice has taken place, and the promise appears to have been stolen
And then, just as everything seems lost, God steps in.
As the book of Exodus opens, for example, Israel has been in slavery for hundreds of years. Yet following a short time of signs and wonders led by Moses and Aaron, God delivers them in a single night!
“During the night Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Up! Leave my people, you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord as you have requested. Take your flocks and herds, as you have said, and go. And also bless me.” (Ex 12:31-32)
“During the night”
Perhaps today, you feel as though you have been living in the night hours. Know that your Father is at work right now!
“During the night”, God is issuing Heavenly orders on your behalf.
7 Ways You Can Prepare for Divine Acceleration
When Divine acceleration takes place, there is no human explanation for it—so, all the glory goes to Jesus.
We cannot make Divine acceleration happen. There is no formula or set of steps to follow.
Divine acceleration is a work of grace and mercy of God. It is God working sovereignly, according to His timetable.
But even though Divine acceleration is nothing to do with our performance, it is certainly facilitated through our relationship with God.
With this in mind, here are 7 ways you can prepare for Divine acceleration:
1. Be Assured God is at Work Right Now
During a season of Divine acceleration, God is at work in a visible way.
But that doesn’t mean He hasn’t been working beforehand—your Father has always been at work.
And you will discover He has been operating behind the scenes, putting many pieces together, positioning people.
You can see God’s plans in the hidden threads, being woven through your life, long before the finished garment that He has for you comes into view.
I believe this is a prophetic word for many people today. “Your waiting is being rewarded!”
2. Sharpen Your Gifts Before Promotion
Even though the promise God gave you is for a future time, faith and anticipation will cause you to prepare.
The Prophetic Samuel had anointed David as future king—yet David stayed in the fields, serving his father and family.
While David was herding sheep, he was also using his time to worship God with his lyre.
- He was playing anointed music and writing prophetic songs
- He was also developing his physical strength and skill of warfare, by protecting the flock from predators
While David was in working in the pastures, he was preparing for the palace.
We read that King Saul was looking for a musician, “Then one of the servants answered and said, “Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.” (1 Sam 16:18, NKJV)
When the opportunity arose, David was ready.
As David did, you can be an active dreamer. And you may not be aware of it, but God is using the skills you are sharpening now to prepare you for Divine acceleration.
3. Be Kind to People in Need
You never know whom God will use on your behalf. Be aware of everyone He brings around you! There will be times you can use your God-given gifts to minister to those who are weak, have needs or are in crisis. “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” (Prov 19:17)
You can trust God to position the right people around you at the right time. God brought the butler into Joseph’s prison so that he could tell Pharaoh about Joseph’s gift of dream interpretation (Gen 40).
Joseph ministered to that palace servant during his time of crisis, and the butler later remembered and spoke to Pharaoh.
Remember that with God, there are no little people and no little places.
That small act of kindness you do now, may have a ripple effect lasting generations.
And it could well be the thing that launches you into Divine acceleration.
4. Serve with Excellence
Joseph served a prison warden with grace and excellence (Gen 39).
He could have thought, “One day I will rule over you. I am more gifted and called than you”. But instead, he brought his gifts and talents and served that jailer with all his heart.
Even when God has called us to greater things, we can serve Him with all our hearts and honor those He calls us to serve during interim times.
Then, when our destiny is released, they will have cause to celebrate as they see their own—and our—faithfulness rewarded.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Col 3:23-24)
God will give you the grace to honor your leaders, even when you’re called beyond them.
As you serve well now, you are sowing into your future season of Divine acceleration.
5. Keep Going When the Journey Seems Long
Divine acceleration works through failure and brokenness. It also works through perseverance: staying with the call of God during the long haul.
The prophet Deborah spent years faithfully serving God as a judge over Israel. Day after day, she took her position listening to problems, dispensing wisdom and giving leadership. And then one day, in a moment of Divine acceleration, God swept Deborah into the events that would release Israel from years of tyranny, and take down an enemy.
Today, receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit for longevity and perseverance.
God’s power is going to move swiftly on your behalf, and He will honor your faithfulness with His favor.
6. Receive Faith to Face Spiritual Warfare
Spiritual warfare can be an unexpected key to Divine acceleration! So if it seems as though the battle has been fierce lately, take heart.
When God is getting ready to do something quickly, He allows the enemy to attack or be exposed—because it is time for victory.
In the book of Esther, the Jews living in Persia came to a point of crisis when their enemy Haman set a date for their destruction.
But the Lord turned those plans around! Through Esther’s courage and Mordecai’s wisdom, their enemies suffered the very fate they had planned for God’s people.
And godly leadership was raised up in Persia, as the King promoted Mordecai the Jew to take Haman’s place.
It is time for you to overcome that enemy that has stood against you!
If you are under threat, it is because you ARE a threat. Spiritual warfare is a sign that Divine acceleration is about to break loose!
Your enemy stands opposed to God’s purpose for your life—but the plans of your Father are unstoppable.
7. Trust in your Father’s Viewpoint
We often have our own ideas and desires of how (and when) we believe Divine acceleration will take place. But Heaven has a different view, and God has a different timetable than us.
And there may be times when we look back and see that those dreams and desires that didn’t come to pass in the way we thought they would, were held back by God in His mercy.
For He had a greater plan up ahead.
Your Father Who loves you stands taller than you. And you can trust in His higher viewpoint.
Ultimately, it is not walking perfectly that counts—but trusting that your Father is holding your hand, and responding accordingly.
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand”. (Psalm 37:23-24, NIV)
You can see Divine acceleration in a “recovery”, in a “quickly”, and in a “suddenly”.
Be assured that when it is your time for Divine acceleration, nothing and no one will stand in God’s way.

Hi Zoe, be blessed in your now season with a fresh assurance, your Father has you by the hand and He’s delighting in you <3
I have waited to hear this from The Holy Spirit for many years. As leader of our Prayer Shield at our church, I feel Him saying “This is that” is in view from the Words of Peter, in the book of Acts. We preserve in prayer. We have ears to hear and eyes to see what He is saying. We are expectant. Thank you Helen for our obedience…Blessings to your ministry.
Praying for you right now Mary…for the fresh breeze of the Holy Spirit to come and envelop and “fill the room”.
We have an opportunity in prayer to be “satisfied in a holy satisfaction” while also being in a state of “holy dissatisfaction”. It’s our ministry to always be reaching for more, but He visits in His glory and we realize, He is our delight and He’s here now. May you know a fresh visitation. <3
