This week I am going to share with you a lesson from my prophetic training on the topic of ‘Prophetic Prayer.’

Before I started developing prophetic training, I felt that Father was encouraging me to do something creative and different, something that had never been done before.

Recognising that we all learn in different ways, I include a number of different expressions and media in my training, including:

  • Reading – providing insightful articles and links on the topics
  • Writing – personal journal and forum
  • Listening
  • Sharing the journey – relationally with others
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Activation – in daily life

It has been a thrill for me to see participants already engaging , sharing testimonies and needs, praying for each other as well as working through the topics.

I am about two-thirds through developing this training and expect it to be completed by the end of November. Here is a bonus preview of Topic 2: Prophetic Prayer:

Topic 2: Prophetic Prayer

Hi everyone, and a warm welcome back to Enliven Prophetic Training.
A special thanks to those who have been engaging with us. I love hearing what others have to say about what they believe God is saying. We can learn from each other as we share different interpretations.
Please don’t hold back and feel free to challenge, chew over and add your opinions to my own ideas and insights. I’m on here to learn, too!

Please listen the following 16 minute message which has teaching, along with information on activities for the week and some pointers for contributing to the forum:

Activities To Do

This week we are continuing our focus on prophetic ministry as it relates to our personal relationship with God. Last week, our context was receiving a prophetic message (hearing His voice) for ourselves personally. This week, our focus is prophetic prayer.

My simple definition is:
Prophetic prayer is when we pray using information that has been supernaturally revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. **Note, this can be revelation we have received ourselves, or we can pray using a prophecy given to us by another person.

Here is a list of some things that will help you grow in the area of receiving revelation from God and participate in discussions:

1.   Listen to the explanations of the different types of prophetic prayer in the podcast. In brief, these are: Receiving, Interceding, Warfaring, Ministering, Proclaiming.

Think about which type of prophetic prayer you could personally benefit from becoming stronger in, or could help you in a current situation you are facing.

2.   This week, use your journal to write out a prophetic prayer, or make bullet-point notes to use as you pray.

You may like to use a prophecy given to you by someone else. If so, here is an article that can help:

3. Tell us which type of prophetic prayer you would like to work on and (if you feel comfortable doing so), share why.

4. Do you have a story about prophetic prayer from your past (or present) that you would like to share? Or a question you would like to ask? We’d love to hear from you!

10 thoughts on “Prophetic Prayer Training Session”

  1. I receive prophetic prayers, usually in Church and I either pray for them there and/or during my prayer time afterwards. I say to God that if He wants me to share these, let a situation arise in which I can share – which He has done a couple of times. But sometimes I feel guilty for not sharing them with the pastors, and I suppose that is because in the past from being in leadership we’ve had people come up to us and ‘brag’ or be ‘prideful’ about their gift and I don’t want to be another one of ‘them’ – if u know what I mean. What’s your thoughts – should I share them with leadership?

    1. Hi Karen, that’s great!
I certainly understand what you mean 🙂
My suggestion would be to approach your pastors and let them know that you sometimes receive prophetic insights, and ask them whether they would like you to communicate these, and if so, how and to whom. It doesn’t need to be a high-profile thing, either, for example, many pastors appreciate an email re prophetic insights rather than being approached personally. Having it in writing enables them to consider it over a longer period, too.
But I think, give the decision re the stewardship of what you are receiving from God about the church to them. That will release you from the uncertainty about doing the right thing.

  2. My church is not spirit filled ? But I now have a small group of Christians from different churches praying in spirit together . How can I further develop the gift ? Is covering by a specific pastor important ? But my church is not open ?

When I pray , I sense God want me to stay in this church

  3. Hi there, if you have prayed and believe that God has planted you in the church that is not Spirit-filled, stay and you will be a great blessing there.
I understand that in those situations you cannot report to your local church oversight in the use of spiritual gifts, perhaps you can find an outside mentor or group you can be accountable to and learn from – but I do encourage you strongly to make sure that person is themselves under clear oversight and not independent.

  4. I’ve experience the voice of God It was last year when God shows me about someone in church who was planning to divide the church into two groups then I spoke this to my pastor then he took time to respond but now when that things started to happen he then says to me it’s true what u saw but it seems like he was not taking serious and it’s a lot of things that God shows me and he is the one who should teach and grow me cause he has experience in prophecy but I trust the spirit of God will teach and train me

  5. Hello Mr/ Mrs,
I received the gift of praying in tongues and two months after that the gifts of vision and prophesy and a year ago the gift of healing. And together with all these gifts I was told by my Pastor that mt annointing is rising like a prophetess annointing ,….. And that God will use me in a mighty way. I did prophesy and vision but now by Gifts have stopped for about a month now…..
Can you help me to understand what is happening ? It’s like I am running on empty and everything seems silent……??

  6. there is a man who is married and he loves me and i luv him too on of the days i prayed god to show me if this is a man for me even under his situation and after praying a i take few moments to listen to the inner voice inside me and god revealed that his something bad gonna happen between him and his wife and pictures of a baby boy were revealed and smaller voice saying he is going to marry me. but i keep on ignoring this voice
