One Thing You Can Do Before Your Prophecy is Fulfilled

(What to do when you're going down a waterfall)

One year ago, I was faced with a challenging opportunity. I asked one of my prayer partners, ‘Could you pray over the next few days and see if you get any prophetic insights for me personally?’

She replied with some prophetic encouragement and added a photo, saying, ‘I felt to send you this photo that I took yesterday.’

It was of Maruia Falls; a waterfall in southern New Zealand.

Having lived in and travelled throughout New Zealand, I was surprised that I had never heard of this place before—and so I Googled it. At the top of the search results was a YouTube clip of a canoeist going vertically down the 10-metre-high waterfall.

I was amazed as I watched the canoeist aimed his canoe directly at the drop. The canoe went over the waterfall and disappeared into the foam. Moments later, he popped up in the river just past the base of the waterfall—unscathed and still afloat, perfectly positioned to continue his journey downriver.

When I saw that, I cried ‘YES! Father, that is exactly how I feel right now about what I am facing and what You are doing in my life!’

One hour later, I was working at my computer, when looked up and noticed my wall calendar was still set to the previous month, January. So I took it down and turned the page to February. It was a photo of a canoeist going vertically down a waterfall.

Surprisingly, the opportunity I was praying about at that time did not eventuate. But one year to the date of that calendar picture—on the first of this month—my husband and I found ourselves in an unforeseen situation.

Both of us were cut off from secure income at the same time. Mine was due to launching a brand new ministry—and my husband’s situation was due to a work contract unexpectedly being cut short.

I remembered the canoeist and the waterfall.

What to do before your prophecy is fulfilled and prayer answered

Have you ever been in a place where following the will of God has led you past a point of no return? You cannot turn back, and you find yourself in a situation where you need a miracle.

As you lead a life of faith, you will come to ‘the drop.’ It’s the place where there is a GAP between your own resources, your own ability, and what lies ahead.

It’s a waterfall moment.

Like the canoeist, you are committed, and cannot turn back.

Think of Moses and the Israelites, pursued by the Egyptians, with an impassable Red Sea in front of them. Imagine David, standing in front of Goliath, slingshot in hand. Paul and Silas, facing imprisonment in Philippi—the very place God had called them to. [1]

As it has often been said, faith could be spelled R-I-S-K.

You will never have this opportunity again

In the midst of the trial, before the prophecy is fulfilled and your prayers for deliverance are answered—on your way down the waterfall—you have a unique opportunity.

  • You can praise God before the miracle is manifested
  • You can worship in the midst of the mystery.

And you can proclaim—my God, you are my Deliverer! You are my Healer, my Provider. You are Faithful and True!

There is another day, another side

We knew there was a brief window of time before our own miracle came into view. It was an opportunity that we could have no other time—to praise God with no answer in sight!

And now, we are just beginning to see our miracle unfold.

From our waterfall to yours…

P.S. Never think that your prophetic insight is too simple to share, or hold back because you don’t fully understand what you are seeing or sensing. Offer it humbly, but willingly—it could be the very message God will use as He brings a miracle to pass.

  1. Hallo Helen, im feeling so blessed reading this. When i saw that image God reminded me of a dream i had a few months ago. I saw Jesus garments. ( I did not see Him, He was to close to my eyes in my dream) And He said to me. DO NOT LEAN ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. When i woke up that morning i was amaized about my dream. I told my patrner about the dream. Ok, that Monday after the weekend that i had the dream my partner went to work. ( At that time i did not have a mail adres so he got all my mails. Then he will print it out for me and bring it home. He phoned me and said that he has something very spesial for me, and he will bring it to me after work. The hole day i felt so exited and could not wait for him to come home. When he got home he gave me a print out of one of my mails from (LOOP), send to his mail adress and it stated.

    Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart: do not depend on your own understanding.

With this image i can now say that i have the dream, the scripture and the image. And i want to bless you today with this scripture as well.
    Thank you so much Helen.
    Blessings for you.
    Renette

    • That’s wonderful Renette! I love that Scripture, it is one that we know so well, but the Holy Spirit brings it with fresh meaning.

  2. I don’t know how I started to receive your emails because I don’t remember ever signing up, but they almost always speak to my situation and have been such an encouragement to me. Thank you from Budapest, Hungary!

    • Wow, Christopher, it’s great to hear all the way from Budapest! Greetings from Down Under where we’re about to retire for the night.
Perhaps you signed up to receive my eBook, ‘Set Your Prophetic Gift Free’ at some stage? (That’s how most people receive the emails). I’m so glad to hear they are being a blessing to you!

  3. Thanks for your post — can so relate. We’ve also been going through a most difficult time where God brought us to the place where trust in Him is the only way forward. He told us not to ask anyone but Him for anything even if it looked like a total emergency. And slowly, beautifully we are being given what we need and our faith is stronger day by day. Obedience, humility, respect, trust in our amazing Father are some of the lessons of this time. God bless.

  4. Hi Helen,

Thank you for your posts indeed they are prophetic they benefit me all the time. Im inspired and challenged by the notes under you will not have this opportunity again… the parts on praise and worship that is what i will do right now as i go down my waterfall…

  5. God bless you Woman of God:
I can’t remember when I first happened upon your web site nevertheless it has been a blessing to me beyond measure, as I have learned to accept and understand the prophetic anointing upon my life. I have been thru so much thru out the years trying to get to the place I am today and yet still find myself in what you have described as a waterfall season.

I lost my employment on last year, and went through a period of devastation and depression not knowing what I was going to do, I was already living from pillar to post looking for permanent housing at the moment I was blessed to get the house I lost my job…it has been a struggle keeping it yet I have chosen to trust God, and continue steadfast in faith knowing and can and will come through. Your blog has kept me going in ways that cannot be expressed. As I am falling behind in bills, barely hanging on, I come across this morning’s blog and my spirit is soaring knowing and understanding that I can choose to praise and worship God in spite of and come thru in the end unscathed, victorious. May God continue to bless you, I know he will soon bless me to be a blessing to your ministry.
My prayers are for God to protect and keep you and yours my fellow sister and servant in Christ
    Florence

    • Hi Florence, I’m sorry to hear of your struggles, praying and believing with you right now for a shift in your situation, may your heart be lifted up and may our Father send His waymaking angels to open doors for you, may His Spirit impress upon the hearts of people to grant you favour for employment, in Jesus’ Name

  6. Hello Helen, am very happy for dis and Lifted up in the spirit. Since last year I have been hearing voices from God then I can also read people’s palm and tell them d future or their pass which is always correct but to my conviction, it’s always a voice I do hear telling me things in people’s palm. ….. now it’s has gone beyond what I can imagine, well, I pray a lot, den little of fasting but last month. When I was praying in d chapel in my school, I heard a voice, telling me I had a calling of God and anointing of God upon me in which people do say that to me. now Helen, how can I develop this gifts and how can I b strong in the spirit to start the work of God.

    • Hi Aladesuru, God is at work in your life, but palm reading is not a Christian ministry – I encourage you firstly to find some local Christian leaders who can provide you with some guidance in this area, and anchor yourself in a good church. That’s the best way to nurture the gift and calling of God on your life.

      • Dear Helen, this is such a gracious and kind response where one lacking in love would have used the opportunity to condemn the previous poster. A sign of a true servant of God. May God bless you and increase you as you continue in ministry.

  7. Dear Helen

I am in that season of not knowing what is happening, do not understand anything that is happening at the moment and there is no positive things are happening and I’m also down in spirit but when I pray I can hear the holy spirit. I don’t even know what to do.

Thanks for the encouragement and enlighten some of the things that are happening or revolves in my life.

  8. Thank you Helen, your testimonies relevant to my situation.

Last year I came to UK sometime in March, for my mother ‘ burial. My plans were to leave soon after my 6 months visa and I wanted to go to Australia to do my nursing studies.

Suddenly things went wrong with my mum ‘ estate. Automatically I knew God wouldn’t allow bad things to happen to me,but he causes all things to work for good.

I just knew God didn’t want me to leave UK as well as my Pastor, now I’m pioneering a church in my city it has the list church attendance. And I’m evangelising people come and go. I always cry to God for souls. Back home i left two children 7 and 5years olds my husband is in capetown. I’m in the middle of nowhere. God what do you want me to do? at times I ask.

I have been experiencing dreams with the same msg. Then I decided to go for prayer and fasting for 4 days I had that dream again and I asked God what was the meaning of this dream. I went back to sleep for a minute I was given a scripture Isaiah61:1_7.I was amazed that was the interpretation for my dream.

    Still waiting for my time.

    • Hi Jill, our Father is a God of families, I pray that His way will be revealed for your family to come back together as well as your ministry to be fulfilled, in Jesus’ Name

  9. Hi Helen

I find it amazing that I am in free flight down my own waterfall as of yesterday and I read your message this morning and am greatly encouraged.

Yesterday I was reading the account of experienced fisherman caught in the midst of a furious squall on the sea who went and woke our Lord. Their question was ‘don’t you care about our circumstances?’. His question was ‘how is it that you have no faith?’

Jesus then spoke to the same circumstances and everything became calm.

What a wonderful Savior we serve who sees our plight but never leaves our side. As with the canoeist or the fishermen, the other side of a miracle is about to emerge.

Jesus only asked for faith the size of a mustard seed for us to come out on the right side of our miracle.

I take heart in that, despite the wind and the waves of my own trial of the last 7 months, yet will I praise and thank Him for I know He has been with me all the time, despite my moments of doubt or questioning.

God has lead me on this pathway and has given me keys to break each deadlock along the way.

I await with a wonderful sense of awe and excitement as the outcome will be known within the next few weeks.

Thank you for sharing your own story it has been a great blessing to me.

    • Hi Ross, that story about the boat and the storm has been meaningful to me lately, too! Thank you. I pray your outcome will be quickly revealed.

  10. Yes, exactly where I am at right now. Falling down that waterfall – it’s scary and a stretch of faith and will I even survive it – but I am screaming in joy – it’s like a roller coaster ride….so much fun!

  11. Hi Helen,
I completely agree with you. You will not get this opportunity again- so praise God in the midst of trial. I remember The Holy Spirit reminding me to praise Him in the midst of chaos and confusion and said ” this is your chance to bring – “Sacrifice of praise” , you have always sung the chorus-‘ we bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord ‘ and had no idea what that looked like –
Well, praising God in the valley is ‘ sacrifice of Praise ‘ . We can only bring sacrifices of praise God , when we are going through challenges times. So let’s do it ?? He is always so worthy of our praise and worship. Ohhhh He is good God.

    • That is so good, Sheela, regarding sacrifice of praise. Thank you! Your words reminded me of this from Psalm 84
      Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
They will still be praising You. Selah
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
      They make it a spring;
The rain also covers it with pools.
      7 They go from strength to strength;
Each one appears before God in Zion.

  12. Praise is the Lord our God.

I just love to say thank you so much, and God bless you for all your teachings, they are truly inspired me, I am learning a lot, and sharing with friends and family members.

May the Lord continue to use you and bless you richly, and mighty…

    Yours always: Lidia.

  13. Yes, Helen. We faced a ‘waterfall’ just before Christmas when my husband had an heart attack and was off work for 6+weeks – no pay. We were in the middle of moving to a beautiful new home God had given us, Christmas was 2 weeks away, our son getting married interstate before new year but I trusted Him who is faithful, knowing what He had done for us and so my husband is back at work (had a stent inserted in a blocked artery), wedding was fabulous and we haven’t ‘missed a beat’! His goodness is overwhelming!! He never lets us down! God bless you in your new ministry and keep you safe!

    • Hi Claire, what a wonderful testimony of God’s faithfulness in the trial! May you experience His full replenishment physically and in every way. And thank you 🙂

  14. Greetings! As I was reading this wonderful message, I was led by the SPIRIT to stop, lift up my hands and give thanks and praise to the LORD our GOD. Then I read on to suggest the same things!
Hallelujah! GOD is Great! GOD Bless!

  15. Indeed. I feel the same too as I await my career miracle. My waterfall. But thank God I have been praising like never before and I’m in that moment where I feel it but have not yet seen it. So inspired. Thank you.

  16. Hello Woman of God.
This insight of today with all the comments had to just bring me to a point of knowing, ‘ I AM NOT ALONE IN THE JOURNEY’.
We’ve been few months away from school due to some strike stuffs that breaked up in our country. Due to this striking period, school resumption has been suspended in my town as well. So, i had been home doing nothing but rather getting more envious about everything going on around. Sometimes i just get sad all the day long.

fortunately or what can i say, gracefully the Holy Spirit dropped a memory into my Spirit.
These was all about a dream i had earlier i.e; I had a dream of which i was in school and found myself playing at the school campus. Then later on i was left alone with no one around. And as i rush to get my bag from the class room, all around me appeared old and dusty. The doors were brocken such that i couldn’t even recognise my classroom. On deciding to cross to the opposite classroom,i met a group of people made up of a woman and some youths. The youths were eleven in number and were in a group of three, except the last group made of just two people. Then the lady standing by the side asked, ‘ What group are you? ‘ and on wanting to answer, i spoke in tongues then said ‘ The Holy Ghost’. Then she said, ‘join the group then’ and we were now twelve in number in group of four.
    Then i woked up.
Believe me, i had never understood the meaning of the dream till now. So i know the Lord was just trying to say; ‘WHEN THAT TIME COMES, REMEMBER THE GROUP YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW’.
Praise God and stay blessed Mum Helen and may God feel you with more mentoring insights.!

  17. More grace in Jesus’ name, I want to say that I am one of the few people this article is actually sent to.
I’m facing a moment of taking serious decision about my calling.
Currently, I’m working as a pastor in a particular ministry, but I’m perceiving that the Spirit is whispering to my ears that He has another assignment for me other than what I’m doing, meaning that He’s asking me to laugh a ministry, but sincerely I’m at the crossroad.
Please, I’ll appreciate any further assistance.
God bless, from Ibadan in Nigeria.

  18. Hi, Helen. I’m exactly in the season of waterfall. God spoke to me about my calling several years ago, but I can’t help feeling that the spiritual flow has been kind of stagnant for a few months though it was quite powerful before. I still believe that God’s working behind scenes, and your blog encouraged me and strengthen my faith further. So thank you and bless you!

  19. Dear Helen,
Thank you for sharing your story. I am going through almost the same scenario right now. I had two jobs, one being a finance administrator in a private company and another an educational facilitator. My facilitator contract ended this year January and my other job has ups and downs. Sometimes I get paid 8-12 days after month end or sometimes no pay at all. I am waiting for a chance of starting my own business but is taking long. Iam an intercessor waiting on prophecy. I have accepted it in my heart that no matter what happens and how long it takes I shall wait in prayer and praise.

Thank you for sharing your story, it has given me hope and courage. I love reading your blogs. God bless you!

    • Hi Zoleka, it’s been a couple of weeks since this post, my husband has a new job and I’ve had some funds come into the new ministry too. I praise God for His provision! I also pray for your breakthrough – may your job situation become stable, in Jesus’ Name

  20. Thank you so much for your post ,it has confirmed what I should be doing in my current situation.I too have gone past the point of no return , by Gods grace I have obeyed God and left a polygamous marriage ( Africa)and now I Am facing the Red Sea of provision.i have never had a proper income before , I have always been provided for by my ex husband .so I packed my bags and children and left my marriage home and renting a small place of which I have received an eviction letter because I haven’t been able to pay the rent .my life from the outside is very much in shambles and there is no way out .
All I have are Gods promises and I am holding onto them for dear life.
It’s also a transformation issue on my part as God dealt with the Israelites so he is dealing with me.
And the more I cry out to. God for my situation I sense He is teaching me to trust Him, love Him , praise Him , worship Him no matter the situation good or bad , evicted or not evicted , hungry or full , in health or illness I shall praise My God always and forever

  21. Another wonderful testimony Helen. Thanks so much for sharing it as it is a good reminder for me to praise God as I continue to wait…… on God for His answer to a particular situation.

  22. Hi Helen. My issue is I have realized recently how much personal prophecy I have had in the way of dreams and promptings I have just been too dull or stubborn to recognize over the years so I have this major guilt and fear of failure. There has been some encouragement too, and something major about to come to pass God has been showing me over the past couple of years. It’s just hard to cope with the failures, so much that it makes the prophetic ministry feel very difficult and painful. I am really feeling an intense sense of failure over my life at the moment but realize it’s likely majorly due to satan getting in just before the miracle that is going to happen.

  23. I have been in a season where I am in that “where do I go!?!” mode with the Lord. Trying things that just are not working anymore!! I can’t go back! In church today as the service was going, I grabbed my colored pencils and started drawing a waterfall. It looked so peaceful and intense. So full of the Spirit!!! And then I decided ok I need to do something! Fast for 7 days! Acceleration! And so I went to the grocery store but still feeling like I was moving in an old season…. so I was going through my emails when I stumbled upon this!!

I’m amazed. In shock- in awe. The last visions I had of myself were jumping off a waterfall as a little girl following Jesus and feeling so full of life and strong and happy and excited with butterflies in my tummy!!!

Wow. Thank you- you have reminded me of where I am going. No turning back!! Only forward!!! Carving a path. And I get to praise Him until I see my miracles and deliverance come! And then praise Him when I see them!! ?

    Thank you sincerely,
Your prophetic words have always been on point with my seasons ever since I started following you, you are a gift from God and I am blessed to receive from you.

    With love,
    Amanda

    • Wow Amanda, I love it when the Holy Spirit moves like that! I pray you are blessed and encouraged and find His new, anointed pathways for your life.
I love this from Rom 8, MSG version: ‘This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” (Rom 8:15 MSG) <3
