Are You Experiencing Spiritual Warfare? It’s Time to Prophesy!

Are you experiencing spiritual warfare and opposition in your life or ministry? It’s time to prophesy!

Prophecy and Spiritual Warfare‘The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.’ (Deut 28:7)

Prophesy concerning your destiny. Prophesy Father’s intention for your life, your family, your church and for your ministry. Prophesy God’s redeeming grace!

Prophesy that God will turn this situation around for His glory. Prophesy in Jesus’ Name, the downfall of the enemy and every demonic scheme that has come against you.

It’s not over, it is a new beginning. The time is coming when you will see with your eyes the fruit of your words spoken in agreement with God’s word. This situation WILL be turned around, in Jesus’ Name.

5 Biblical Examples of Prophecy and Spiritual Warfare

Have you felt as though you have been in a spiritual battle lately? Be encouraged by these glimpses of the power of prophecy in Scripture when warfare is taking place:

When it Seems the Enemy has you Cornered

The nation of Israel has escaped from slavery in Egypt and is now trapped between the pursuing Egyptian army and the Red Sea. Faced with a seemingly impossible situation, Moses prophesies God’s intended outcome to the Israelites:

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Ex 14:13-14)

It may appear that the enemy has you backed into a corner with spiritual warfare, but you serve a supernatural God. Trust His promises and prophesy; declare the God’s deliverance ahead of time. With God on your side, you are unstoppable and the strategies of the enemy will be overturned.

When Intimidation is Coming Against You

In 1 Sam 17, David counters Goliath’s barrage of intimidating words and actions by prophesying the giant’s fate:

David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (1 Sam 17:45)

Don’t underestimate the power of your prophetic declarations during a time of spiritual warfare. Prophesy in the face of intimidation. Boldly prophesy God’s outcome and victory over the enemy!

When You’ve Been Knocked Over

In the midst of the nation’s devastation because of sin and unfaithfulness to God, the Prophet Micah can still proclaim a prophetic message of hope and restoration.

Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. (Micah 7:8)

It may seem that you have been knocked around or knocked over. Perhaps you have given way to temptation or are struggling with sin and there have been consequences.

Now is the time to prophesy. Declare, ‘I WILL rise. My Jesus, in Whom I trust, is my Redeemer,  my Deliverer and my Resurrection.

When the Physical Odds are Against You

King Jehoshaphat of Judah hears the terrible news that a massive army is coming against him. As he prays and cries out to God in front of his people, the Holy Spirit comes upon a Levite named Jahaziel, who gives a bold prophecy:

‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s…You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” (2 Chron 20:15-17)

Jehoshaphat responds to that prophetic word by sending out an army of praisers—and this day God gives them a powerful deliverance over their enemies.

Does it seem like the odds are against you? Look beyond what can be seen with your natural eyes: what does your Heavenly Father say? What is HIS word concerning your future situation? Make a decision to see what God is seeing and to speak what God is speaking. Prophesy and see the miracle!

When You are in the Wilderness

David wrote Psalm 57 in a place of devastation. The Psalm’s headline reads, ‘When he had fled from Saul into the cave.’ David was in the wilderness on the run from Saul, who wanted to kill him. And yet, in this place of present pain and warfare, David sings a prophetic song of certain faith in his future:

‘I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.’ (Ps 57:9)

In the present, you may be in the midst of a trial—but in the future God’s promises will prevail. Stand and prophesy a sure word concerning your future, and praise Jesus who makes all things possible.

    Dear Helen,
It this is such a current topic for me and I am grateful that you bring this up.
I had written to you serveral times about my terrible financial situation that makes it so
difficult for me to move out of this house. My landlord lives above me and turns on the music at night whenever he likes. Now there is a new neighbour possibly carefully selected by him, who does the same during the day. I have already had some discussions with him and I am desperatelly looking for a new flat, I cannot go on like this. I feel drained and desperate and need to find a safe place and an employment to. The Englishcourses I ran were great, but I cannot live on that. At the moment I feel as if I were under siege. I know that whenever I asked you to pray something good happened.
May I ask you again to pray for me? Loving thanks in advance.
    Yours Conny

        Dear: Helen
I ask about prophetic gift cause as a young woman I always was curious as to why do spirit tend to visit me or follow me home. There presence is always felt when they reach out and grab my arm or touch my head. How do I know what is going on with me , do you believe this is a gift or a curse.

During a recent prayer meeting the power of Holy Spirit filled me with a prophetic prayer in which I prayed over things I did not know. The words were of congregational love and unity to establish a foundation for growth in our church.

After the service, I was asked by my Pastor to preach on a Sunday evening service. As you know I am not a pastor, but I agreed.

A few days before the sermon the Holy Spirit awoke me
in the middle of the night and gave me spiritual direction as what to speak on specifically.

The power of the Holy Spirit fell upon the service. People began to cry and become touched by the wonderful presence of the Holy Spirit. The closing prayer was a declaration of love and unity over the congregation. The alter call was a call for unity and love and respect for one another thru the submission to the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. What a wonderful and real presence of our living and active Lord.

The entire congregation came forward and the power and presence of our Lord God came down upon us. As individuals came forward many were slain in the spirit. The wonderful presence and leadership of the Holy Spirit was beyond my wildest imagination.

The honor and glory belong to our wonderful Savior. But in part, I have to attribute my understanding and submission to the Holy Spirit’s presence to your anointed ministry. Thank you.

I humbly would ask for your intercession thru prayer for our church. We need a full measure of the power and presence of the Holy Spirit to continue to manifest in our hearts as we hunger greatly for His presence. We have a 650 capacity church that has many empty seats.

    May God be honored.

Hello Russ, what a wonderful testimony and how encouraging for you in your journey too! The times we encounter the Presence of the Holy Spirit in that way cause us, as well as others who hear of it, to hunger for more.
Yes I do pray for your church – may there be wisdom keys to contain the harvest of people God is drawing to you, and the grace and continued outpouring and overflow of the Spirit.
Your story has blessed my day!

    Hello Helen,
Am really blessed by this article. Am still learning to appreciate the HUGE impact prophetic words have over my life and circumstances. Jesus said His words are spirit and LIFE. Most people underestimate the power of a prophetic/rhema word over their circumstances. One truth pattern that I have observed running consistently throughout the bible, from Genesis to Revelation and which is reinforced by your teaching is this; Every breakthrough/turnaround is always preceded by a word from the Lord.
Again many thanks for your teaching which gives hope to the discouraged soul.

Hi Chris, such a great insight, thank you. His words are spirit and life indeed! May you experience hope and even more – powerful breakthroughs as you declare the word of the Lord!

I can not impress upon you how the timing and the scripture that is provided me, through your messages of hope and faith do indeed fill me, guide me and empower me! My husband and I are on the front lines of spiritual warfare and we know that we are up against Jezebel, Baal, Beelzebub and Belial who work and reside over the small town outside of Philadelphia, where we live. When ever we need a boost, it seems to me that your enliven post comes through like and arrow to its mark! THIS is how I KNOW the Holy Spirit hears our prayers, answers them and fortifies our efforts! We ARE victorious! Praise Jesus as HE IS KING!! Thank you, as always~the Sutton Family

    Dear Helen,
when you praid for me I received an email from someone asking me when I could start
working for them. This is good, but I will have to be successful in the interview first. If yes I can start looking for accommodation in a town 4 hours by train from here. ( would be a mircacle release for me). But to find a way out here because it concerns my health I need to look at possible flats here to which are rare and talk to potential landlords about how fast I could move in. My own landlord is very difficult an will possibly not let me out before a 3 months deadline though he wants me to move out anyway as I complained about the terrible situation here. I am very stressed out and sometimes do not know what to do first to find a way out. If possible pray again for me. Thank you and blessings for you

Yes, I have the gift of discernment and sometimes it is difficult for me. Lately, my gift has actually felt like it was growing and now on top of what I call a “knowing” about people, I sometimes hear a specific word about the person. Sometimes the “word” makes me a little uncomfortable. I’ve talked with my husband about this and I am going to discuss it with my pastor but this is my question. I don’t want the gift to go away but I would like to get to where I can sort of put it in a box once I get what I need to know. Is this possible? When it is not something good, it kind of hangs around and pokes at me. I am praying about it but want to know if spiritually there is a way to handle this inside of me once I know what is happening through my gift. Sometimes it just seems to want to hang around inside of me and keep poking at me about the person or situation. I would like to be able to basically say, okay I know what is happening and I have gone to my leader, prayed about it and now it needs to be filed away or whatever. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Hi Sharon, I think the best course of action is to share with your pastor. Maybe even discuss with your pastor what to do with the things you are sensing – a discernment from God should not poke at you, once you have released it in prayer or through reporting to your pastor (whichever course of action is appropriate)
