The Storehouse for Your Spiritual Gift of Prophecy or Discernment

Have you ever noticed the Holy Spirit recalling to your mind Bible verses, stories, or illustrations from Scripture when you are praying or ministering?

Prophetic_StorehouseJesus said, ‘…the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.’ (John 14:26)

If you desire to grow in your revelatory gift of prophecy, discernment, wisdom, or prophetic encouragement, it is vital that you are aware of this.

The Holy Spirit reminds you of what Jesus has said and made available to you. He will not only give you fresh revelation; He will also draw on:

  • Things God has spoken to you in the past
  • What you have learned through encounters with Him
  • Wisdom and insights you have been taught
  • Scriptures, Bible stories, Bible symbols and Scriptural principles.

You partner with the Holy Spirit in your ministry. You provide the storehouse He draws from, by positioning for encounters with God, choosing wisely who to learn from, and by studying the Bible.

Your Bible Study is a Storehouse the Holy Spirit Draws From

Here are 3 reasons why study of Scripture is vital to your ministry of prophecy, wisdom or discernment:

  1. The Bible is the most significant source of revelation from the Holy Spirit. It is the primary way God speaks to us.
  2. Scripture is also the primary means by which we weigh up every prophetic insight or discernment.
  3. Studying and meditating upon God’s Word helps us to grow personally and in our gifts and ministries.
  4. The Bible is a significant source of prophetic symbolism. It aids our comprehension of symbols and is the first place we turn to for interpretation of prophetic words, visions or dreams.

Let your heart’s desire be to provide the Holy Spirit with a rich storehouse of the knowledge of His Word for Him to draw from.

    • Thank you so much Helen for the insight on discernment. I always had that odd feeling whether when I meet somebody or when the Pastor is at the middle of his sermon and there will be a voice in my heart telling me to speak” wisdom and understanding in Jesus Name” I will repeat those words until there is peace in my heart. Some other time my heart will say”worship is still on” when it has been stopped due to the day programme. I will be sad and wish to go out but will not but continue praying for peace and God’s will till I feel better but sometimes my heart will continue to be sore. I believe I have more to learn.

  2. I do not know if my spiritual gift is prophecy or discernment. My gift is bound sadly do to a generational curse I have yet to break. I just I have seen things but It is to scare me or I do not know. I just wish I knew what it was thank you so much.
