You can begin the year with a sense of anticipation about what God is going to do in your life, work and ministry this year.
I am about to enlarge on this prophetic insight for 2014. But before I do, here are some reminders of how to make the most of this and other general prophetic words for 2014 that you come across:
- Meditate and pray over the prophetic words. You may like to do this personally, or as a family, church or team.
- As you do, the Holy Spirit may highlight one or more of these as God’s particular, personal word to you for 2014
- Ask God to reveal more to you. You may like to process this through journaling or Bible study
- If you feel that Father God is leading you in a particular direction as a result of a prophetic insight you read or receive, take it through the process of accountability
- Remember that prophetic fulfilment is conditional upon your ongoing obedience to God and partnership with the Holy Spirit.
- Finally, every person’s journey is unique. For example, even in an appointed season of harvest, there will be those who are experiencing personal times of sowing or watering.
7 Areas of Harvest to Pray About as you Enter 2014
1. The Harvest You Have Sown into
‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’ (Gal 6:9)
(A harvest of crops is the result of a year of careful preparation and hard work. This includes tilling the ground, sowing seed and nurturing the growing plants.)
Father is saying, ‘this is a season in which you shall see things come to fruition. There are areas in which you have faithfully sown into over a period of time. Now, I am causing faith to arise in your heart that you will reap from that which you have sown. The seed has been your prayers, your declarations of faith, your giving, your service, and your unswerving devotion. There are circumstances and people that you have not given up on because you know I have not given up.’
2. The Harvest Others Have Sown Into
“Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” (John 4:37-38)
‘As you have had a heart of faithfulness, as I have trusted you to build upon the foundations of others, I have appointed a harvest for you that you have not laboured for.
There is a field, or a person, that others have sown into and tended—in prayer, in love, in words, acts and tears, in service, sometimes privately and unsung.
There is also a generational harvest for many of you. Those who have gone before have prepared the ground and sown the seed—and this is the time to rise up and reap. And as you do, honour those who have gone before.’
3. A Harvest of People Drawn to Faith
“Celebrate the Festival of Harvest [Pentecost] with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field.’ (Ex 23:16)
(The Biblical feast of Pentecost is a celebration of the harvest. And on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) as the Jews celebrated the physical harvest, a harvest of 3,000 people were born into God’s Kingdom.)
‘There is a harvest of people coming to faith in 2014 and it is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, that this will be accomplished. (Zech 4:6)
Enter this year expectant.
Look with the eyes of faith and see, not what people are doing, but look for that which I am doing. As you partner with Me, keys will become visible—keys of prayers, words, strategies and actions that will unlock people’s hearts and draw them into My Kingdom.’
4. The Harvest that is Already There
“Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” (John 4:35)
‘There is a harvest that has already been in existence around you, but not easily discernible. Now, I am calling you to lift your eyes and see what I am seeing.
I am anointing your eyes, to see what I see, and your heart, to feel what I feel.
I am imparting courage to you by My Spirit, as you will need to step beyond your comfort zone in order to receive this harvest.’
5. The Grace Harvest
‘The land yields its harvest; God, our God, blesses us. May God bless us still, so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.’
‘While every harvest is sourced in My grace, this one is characterised by grace in that there is nothing you have done or can do to bring it to pass. This is the harvest of Divine intervention—the surprise harvest, the one you were not expecting.’
6. The Harvest of Weeping
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. (Ps 126:5-6)
‘There is a harvest where you have sown in tears, in times of trial, and pain. And in those very areas that have caused you pain, I am bringing the harvest. You will see the results of your travail. This is the time in which I am overturning the works of the enemy and bringing the fruitfulness you have dreamed of.’
7. The Harvest of Character
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Heb 12:11)
‘This is the harvest that is the result of your walk before Me. You have allowed Me to put My finger on things in your life. You have responded to My discipline and made adjustments—an attitude here, a habit, an action there.
And these things may have seemed small, significant and unseen, but now is the time that the harvest will emerge. A harvest of righteousness, a harvest of peace, and the harvest that I can entrust you with, because you have been faithful in those things that seem small, but are large in My sight.’

The Power of Prophetic Accountability
‘Just as a word that we bring to a church is not for every individual hearing it in the pews, so a word for a season is not for everyone as an individual, due to the uniqueness of that which God wants to achieve with them in particular…. But it is still Father’s intention for the church as a whole… And therefore, vital!’ – David McCracken
